Photography Live Review of the Allure of the Seas? - Sailing 8th September 2013.

Recommended Posts

Nice to see a British -view review! Taking my first Oasis cruise when she is over 'here' next September so starting to eagerly read everything!!

If you do get a chance can you find out if they will offer the Speciality dining packages on the 5 night cruise please??

I will see what I can do regarding the Specialty Restaurant package. However, I can't see why the won't do it, as I am sure Royal Caribbean would want you to sample some of their premium foods. I am also on the Oasis next September whilst the Oasis is doing the Barcelona and Italy ports of call. I'm excited, as it will be my first time on the Oasis.

Just a bit of information, it looks like Oasis 3 will be ready to sail sometime in 2016. I don't have the exact date, but I will try and find out at the Captains Corner.

Morning all. Day 3, Beach Day. Labadee Beach.... or as some people may say.... Labadeeeeeeeeeee Beach. It's nearly 6am, and I am off to Deck 15 / 16 to do some sunrise shots. I have also been invited to the Helipad when we come back on-board. I intend on going. So, I will try and get some photography done.

Once again, good morning everybody.

Day 3 - Labadee Day, or as some would say, Labadoza day (with plenty of booze).

The ship arrived early today and the gangway was open before scheduled time. (For info, you don't always get announcements that the port is open on time. But this is not an indication that you need to go to the gangway early, if you don't need to, but it is sometimes handy to find out if the gangway is open in case you have a tight deadline at a particular port).

Today was mainly about chilling in the Cabana, going on the Coastal Discover Haiti cruise and taking photos of wildlife, if possible, and get back to the ship in one piece and on time. The other objective is to access the Helipad as part of the Sail away party that is planned for Suites users.

Here is your sunrise shot of the day.

For those of you who want to see what the Nellie Beach Cabanas look like, here it is.

A couple of photos from the Coastal Cruise. I believe the below image is called Amelia Island.

I understand that you can do some snorkeling here. I don't know off hand if RCCL offers an excursion to this island to do some snorkeling, but it may be worth looking into. I am not a snorkeler, so I don't know if this location is any good. It's a beach island, and is only a few acres in size.

Apology for the quality of the below image. This is the Citidal in Haiti.... on top of the mountain in the middle of the image. Access to the Citidal is not currently available via RCI, as it would require more time than what the ship currently spends in the port.

Access to the Helipad as part of the Sail away party.

I will post some more images later of some wildlife. I know someone had asked for images of table 419, and I will try and post this in another thread shortly after my cruise has completed, if that is ok?

Slight correction to my previous post. I said Amelia Island. I should have said Amiga Island. Many apologies for the error.

Here are some more images from today's port of call in Haiti.

This is my view from the Cabana. I was on the first Cabana over the Water. Can't see the whole ship, but the view is great. There are some more Cabana's on the left of me, and you can get to see the whole of the ship.

Anyone for crabs?

This isn't your typical sex on the beach.

Bird in flight. Not sure the type of bird this is, but there are plenty of them in Haiti.

A small interlude to my photographic review. If you are looking to do a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, I would suggest spending a couple of days, at least, in Embassy Suites and do the Everglades Day Safari via http://www.ecosafari.com/. Some of the hotels may be able to book this excursion for you if you require, but you will need to book it before 5pm the day before at the latest.

Off season cost is about $130. Season cost is $189. The best time to go would be around Jan, Feb and March. Off Season is around September.

All the images below are from this private excursion. The excursion may vary depending on the season and how many passengers are being picked up. So if you are looking for something to do pre or post cruise, I can recommend this one. However, it is a whole day excursion, and I would recommend an overnight stay if you are planning on doing this post cruise. This may not be suitable or relevant to everyone, but just want to put this excursion out there to anyone who is looking to see some Wildlife as part of their holiday.

Subbing-I personally can't get enough trip reports. I am sailing her next May and seem to learn for everyone's reports...thanks for taking us along.

Welcome on board. If you haven't done so already, join your Roll Call and subscribe to your Meet and Mingle.

My main advise is not to try and do everything in one week. And I hope you do get as much information you need for your cruise. :)

Also, sign up for your entertainment in advance as the reservations tend to go quickly. Some are held back for when you board, but don't chance it.

Good morning everyone. The Allure is making its way to Jamaica. Yesterday, the ship experienced some issue with the engine and was 1 hour late departing from Labadee. From what I understood, there was a scheduled maintenance carried out, and the issue had not been resolved in time. I believe the ship should have given everyone a free Labadoze for the trouble. :D

Today I am on a private excursion going to Ocho Rios with Liberty Tours Jamaica. Ricardo Riley will be the designated driver for the day, and I am certain, except for a major issue, of 3 things.

1. I will have a great day.

2. I will be back on the Allure.

3. Syria will still be in the news when I get back.

I better get back to the blog. :)

The excursion will include the following:

Secret Falls

Enchanted Gardens

Shaw Park

Sight Seeing

Lunch.

Not necessarily in that order. Photos will follow either tonight or tomorrow morning.

All that is left for me to say is "Ya Mon" and have a great day all.

I am enjoying your review and your photography. Thanks for taking the time to post during your vacation. We have a cruise booked for next April on the Freedom and I am interested on your excursion today in Jamaica as we are looking at doing something similar to yours. if you don't mind posting what was the cost of your excursion?..Thanks again.

I am paying approximately $200 for the excursion. This doesn't include the cost of lunch or entrance fees. Initially the tour was just for myself. However Ricardo is picking up a couple of customers from Ocho Rios and the entrance fees have been waived. The Tour Guide only started about a year ago and I am happy to be flexible with him so that he can drum up new business. When booking a private excursion, I would recommend 2 or more people are part of the private tour, as this is the more cost effective (in terms of per person cost).

Did you enjoy you cabana? We have an over the water at Nellie's booked at Labadee in a few days....

YES!!!! I can now say, in just a few days I will be cruising!!!!! :D

I loved it. I am not a sun worshipper, and needed time away from the cruise ship. The only option was to go and chill in the cabana.

Regarding Haiti.... to all vegetarians who have a Cabana or who have access to Barefoot, there is limited vegetarian option available. Please let your waiters know you are a vegetarian and something can be made specially for you when you get to the lunch area.

I hope you enjoy your cruise. We may pass each other as we make our way back to Fort Lauderdale.

I made it back to the Allure with about 10 to 15 minutes to spare. I almost waved on the wrong side of the ship.

But seriously, I had a great time today. I trust Ricardo to get me back to the ship on time. I managed to see a couple of places on the way back to the ship that wasn't on the agenda, including taking some pictures of some abandoned canoes / boats.

I'm popping out for the evening to the Casino to lose some $$$'s. I'll update the blog tomorrow, either before or after Dreamworks breakfast.

Would anyone be interested in me producing a Live Photographic Review of the Allure of the Seas?

I know Trainman is doing a Live review, so I don't want to duplicate efforts.

I would love to see your "eye" perspective on this beautiful ship. Click away!!!!
