We have a credit card that earns points towards RC cruises and after talking to RC on the phone, they said they could be applied to our upcoming cruise. So we mailed them to RC (2 certificates worth $100.00 each) and now they were returned to us with a comment that they couldn't be applied to our cruise because we booked through an agent. Why would they only allow us to use them if we booked the cruise directly through RC?

Has anyone ever heard of this? And if RC is correct, now that our cruise is already booked, how do you get rid of your agent so we can use the $200. off our cruise. The coupons can't go back on the credit card, we would lose them.

You might want to try contacting your agent. Perhaps they can submit them to RCCL, since they are in charge of the reservation.

Please come back and let us know if that worked and they were able to get them applied.

I think you are misinterpreting RCI's response. The coupons can be applied - only not directly by them. No need to get rid of your TA - in fact that is who you need to contact.

RCI's policy is that they will not make any changes to a reservation that they did not originate. As this reservation originated through a TA, the TA "owns" the reservation and any changes need to be made through them.

It isn't that the coupons won't be applied, it is only that the TA has to be the one to apply them through the reservation they created.

Contact your TA - they will handle this for you.

Thanks I will try that. Called the agent today but not in the office.

We used these same coupons the last cruise and had no problems with getting them applied, thought maybe they changed the rules.

I'm sure it will work out the same as last time. No change in the rules. :)

Enjoy your cruise!
