Not sure where to post this question but since there's a waltz of experienced travelers here, I thought this would be the place to start.

Our cruise starts in Southampton and ends in Copenhagen. We were able to make air reservations using frequent flyer miles - saved a BUNCH! :D

However, that did mean one small compromise - our return flight using the miles needs to start in Brussels. That means we need to make our own arrangement for getting from Copenhagen to Brussels. Not a big deal except that since we would no longer be under the aegis of US Air for the full trip we need to be certain of our timing on the first leg: CPH to BRU.

A flight does leave Copenhagen at 6:45 AM and arrives in Brussels at 8:10. Our flight to the States leaves at 10:45.

Does the 2 hours and 35 minutes give us enough time to get through the entire process of getting our bags, checking in, going through security and, from what I can see, walking from Pier A to Pier B?

I'm not sure that will give you enough time. The walk from the plane to the terminal was very long the last time we were visiting Brussels. If I remember correctly it took us at least 20 minutes to get to the main terminal from the gate. Remember to leave enough time in case your plane is delayed taking off. It just seemed we were walking for a long time and that was without security etc.

Is your ship in Copenhagen over night because if not you may not be able to even consider a flight that early. Second if that connecting flight is even 30 minutes late you would probably not make your overseas flight.

Why not spend the night in beautiful Brussels and be sure, without worry, you'll

make.the return flight.

I assume that your CPH-BRU flight is on SN. If so, both SN and US Air are *A partners and you should be able to check your bags all the way through. This should save you considerable amount of time, but as the flights are on separate PNRs you will be on your own if you miss your BRU flight :(

Apparently you were not able to get your award from CPH (even via BRU)?

I would be concerned about making a 6:45 flight unless you overnight in CPH it may be tricky

If your bags are checked all the way through you won't have to retrieve them and if you are given boarding passes for all flights initially you should have no problem. If you have to retrieve bags and check in again it could be tight.

Thanks for your replies. They all added validity to using the other option we had in mind. Especially the very real possibility of the flight being just late enough for us to need to do an OJ Simpson through the airport to try and get to our transatlantic flight.

Our post cruise plan now is to still spend 3 days in Copenhagen and fly into Brussels the day before our flight to the US. In that way, as was suggested, we can enjoy a few hours in beautiful Brussels. What makes it even nicer is that we will be celebrating our 30th anniversary on the day we are there. A nice leisurely dinner at a fine restaurant is much better than clinking wine glasses at 30,000 feet!

Good choice - Brussels is a great city with fine dining (as well as lots to do and see).
