Emerald Mattresses

Does the Emerald have new mattresses within the last year? Or will I need to ask for a mattress topper as in the past? Thanks.

Don't know about all of them ... but the mattress in our mini-suite on Emerald in January was new. It was the pillow top kind and very comfortable. :)

 

Also, the little refrigerator actually kept things VERY cold.

Just disembarked today from a mini-suite on Dolphin deck. Not sure if the mattress was new or not, but I do know it was ache-making firm even though there was a pillow-top-type padded cover over it. Requested and received a foam topper to go over the pillow-top cover. Realize that I am a sink-into-it mattress type; my husband, a firm-mattress guy, thought the mattress was just fine without the foam topper.

We had the worst mattresses we ever had on any cruise on the Emerald for 20 days during January and February of this year. We were in Caribe 718. They were not the new mattresses.

Thank you all. I think to be safe, I'll ask for the mattress topper. I can always give it back if I find that we get a new mattress.

In May on the Emerald, we had a pillow top in C423. Very comfortable.

What stateroom were you in?

 

We were in a mini-suite D416 in Jan/Feb 2013 on Emerald for 20 nights.

It was the new "pillow top" and quite comfortable. :)

Thanks for the information! We will be in a covered balcony mini suite on Emerald Deck. I wonder if their mattresses have been replaced.

Just got off Emerald Princess's TA to New York, Sept 26. We were in E626, Emerald Deck/Obstructed. Our Mattresses were firm and just great. I did see that in Greenock, Scotland that they unloaded over 12 skids of balcony furniture onto the pier, all wrapped in clear stretch material. Ship's in good shape, but the 6 days ocean crossing was way too long for lots of folks. Back in 1960, I did a trans Atlantic from Leghorn, Italy and it took 14 days on a troop ship. Now, that was long. Enjoy your cruise.

Mattress's are replaced on an ongoing basis.

The ship will never have all completley new mattress's at the same time.

Yes, balcony furniture that were blue webbing with gray/white frames. They were fork lifting skids out of ship's lower access port. You will have to ask the folks with a balcony if the got new furniture.
