Card Room on Ruby or Caribbean Princess?

A group of us are thinking about taking a short cruise on either the Ruby Princess or Caribbean Princess. We are all Bridge players, and surely we'll want to play some cards on the cruise. Can you tell me if either (both?) of these ships have a nice card room? With a view? Or...are there places on the ship that would be comfortable for playing cards (other than in stateroom or on the balcony)??

Thanks.

No dedicated card/game room on these ships. We have noticed passengers playing cards in places like Skywalker's Nightclub, Deck 18 aft, the shaded tables around the Calypso Reef Pool, (an active area with noise), The Wheelhouse Bar, Explorers Lounge and Club Fusion (these 3 areas also have scheduled activities so there are not available all day). On the Ruby Princess there is also the Adagio Lounge Deck 16, aft. Also, some ships open up the Crown Grill or Sabatini's during the day for card players. You have to watch the Princess Patter for details. Some passengers play on the outside deck of the Horizon terrace.

Thanks so much. this is just what I needed to know.

It's too bad that there isn't a dedicated card room, but it looks like we would be able to find a place to play. I need to decide if this will work, or whether we should go on Celebrity or RCCL on a ship with dedicated room. We like the itineraries on Princess, so we have to weigh the options.

Again, thanks for the help.

We played pinochle daily at a table by the Horizon Court and Scoops! What a view - it was a 2 week cruise to Hawaii and we had wonderful warm weather last April. You will see lots of people playing cards and dominoes at the tables daily! In the afternoon the cart with hot chocolate chip cookies and cold milk came by about 3:00! And with Scoops close by it was a dangerous combination! One day when it was windy and cold we moved to a table and chairs by the international cafe - same dangerous goodies close by!

On the Emerald and Ruby this month the Crown Grill was open during the day for cards. On the Ruby we would use the side of Caribe or Horizon Court that was closed for eating to play cards in the evening. We asked the staff if it would be ok with them before we sat down. They were very nice about it, and some of them would stop by to see who was winning or just to visit.

If you really like the itinerary, don't jump ship from Princess just because other lines have a dedicated "card room". Who is to say the dedicated card rooms wont be full or unusable on the other lines. There are hundreds of places on a Princess ship where you can play cards. The suggestion for Skywalkers is probably best, but I have seen card games, cribbage, backgammon and chess games pop up in loads of places all over a ship. Imagine playing cards here in Skywalkers looking out over the Caribbean sea, sure beats a card room!
