Hello,

Just arrived home today from the Nov. 17, cruise. We had a good cruise, too, and I agree with March Babe that there is plenty to do.

I did notice there seemed to be many more "nooks" to sit in to chat or have a drink. There's one on the 5th deck by the "stage" area. Also, there is "Calypso Cabana" covered area up by the pool (not the pool cabanas-these tables and chairs), and chairs in the halls, ie-part of the Wheelhouse Bar?

The ship seemed wider and "grander" than the others--the scale of the furniture seemed bigger....not a bad thing, just an observation. It is pretty long, though. :) And, you'll find that things aren't situated in the same places.

We enjoyed ourselves and don't have any major complaints. (The Casino was also very good to me, the first or second night--Royal Flush!! :)

The Horizon Court is wide and has two sides--be on the lookout for a little "alcove" area between two lines- there are salads or breads or fruits in there. And, the desserts are forward- in the Bistro area/Pastry Shop, not with the other Court food. The coffee station is between the Horizon Court and the Bistro, but the servers do go around and offer juice and coffee.

There was a new group called the Speakers last week. They are a young, British group that does British Pop, they did an Elvis music show, and have been up on deck. The lead singer has a good voice. Last week was their first one onboard. There was also a Dixieland Jazz Band playing last night. There was dancing every night in the Piazza, as others have mentioned.

I think you'll enjoy it. And, we were not bothered by people wanting to sell us something or to get us something.

Lynne

Off the ship and spending the day at Hard Rock Resort. Flight doesn't leave till after 8.

I will work on a detailed review over the next few days but suffice it to say this was the best cruise I have ever been on. There have been ports I have liked better but as far as the ship it was simply amazing!!

I just watched the Royal departure from Ft. Lauderdale around 4pm today. She got out before the weather cell hit the port. Was a band of rain that reduced the visibility to near 500 yards, and she was well out of the harbor by the time it came in. Carnival Freedom must have had to depart via radar! Thought of you all as I watched the camera pan the ship as she was departing!

Great review and that chili-crab margarita thingie sounds like it's right up my alley ! I'm a grazer so the idea of a little bit here and a little bit there also sounds good to me.

Again, thank you so much for your review, it was both informative and graceful.

Glad you found the review helpful. Yes, you can definitely graze your way around the ship!

Thanks March Babe, Lynne, and Tracey for your quick insights. I hope that you are able to post your reviews for all to see.

Who is Dave?

That's me, and it's just some of my new friends here on Cruise Critic who appreciated a little thread that we did from January thru June.

Looking forward to your impressions, whether as a live or after your cruise.

Hopefully the internet on Royal Princess will cooperate. If not, there's always Embarkation Day, Turn Around Day, the day they kick me off the ship, and twice in St. Thomas for both segments of the B2B. I can use all of those opportunities and not have to deal with shipboard access, and instead use my Iphone and AT&T.

I heard someone had hit something pretty big one of the first few nights like 1200 or 1300 dollars. I just realized I totally missed having a drink at the Seaview Bar. The one time we had headed over it was flooded. I also missed the fountain show. There are just so many amazing things on this ship there really isn't anyway to see it all in just 7 days. As much as I loved the ship my next sailing will be based more on itinerary then the ship. That's really my only gripe is they have all the ships going to the same ole places as far as Caribbean 7-8 nights. This seems to be other lines as well.
