Anyone get banned and allowed back

Sorry to get off topic but had to share. My SIL manages a Starbucks store. Last week a woman came in with a Starbucks cup and said her iced drink had melted that she bought THREE days ago. She demanded to talk to the manager and said she would even call the regional office if she didn't get a new drink or her money back.

Obviously a scam but Starbucks trains its managers to keep the customer happy so he gave her what she wanted. He can refuse to serve her in the future if she keeps doing it though.

And this is why this country is going to hell in a hand basket. It's one thing to keep your customers happy, it's a completely different thing to be an accessory to theft.

It is pretty clear reading through these posts that the OP's report is more of a rule violation, than a violation of a law.

Being 20 years old and drinking alcohol in international waters is not against a law, but against a cruise line policy which the passenger agreed to at the time of booking and boarding the ship. No laws were violated. So, the punishment should always fit the crime. A life time ban is not justified and to harsh to the passenger, and serves no special protection to CCL. So, I agree with a lot of people that there is more to the story. More being some violation of the law.

If there is no more to the story, I would be surprised that the persons name is on a do not sail list.

It would be interesting to know how a cruise line keeps track of "banned for life" individuals.

There are thousands of "Jane Smith"'s or "John Smith"'s. And if a banned one used a birth certificate for a cruise on which they were banned....and then got a passport....how would a cruise line identify them without a major violation of privacy rules? (or vice versa)

If it were as draconian as the "no fly" list that the TSA has, there would be a HUGE outcry by the Jane or John Smith's of the world!!!

Really? The cruise lines have your birthdate, address, and either iD # or passport #. Not really that hard.

It was a passenger named Brenda Moran. Google her and you can see her story. I think it was RCCL, but she made a habit doing this in every aspect of her life.

So I read her story on cruise bru#@e website and it seemed to me that having poop all over your floor or being locked out on you balcony for a few hours would be something to complain about. If I had to deal with that I would complain myself and I think it is sad that a person or persons could be banned for telling about something that happened. They bragged on the guest service but then get flamed by hateful people on CC...I am not saying that you did anything like this, please don't think that I am. I was just shocked about the story.

We were on a Carnival ship a few years ago. I noticed a security agent take a young man aside and talk to him one evening.

When we docked at home port we were delayed well over a hour before permitted to disembark.

About 10 college students were taken off the ship before any passengers were permitted off, we were waiting in a lounge for VIP to disembark, thought it was odd that several sherriff cars and sherrifs drove up and came on baoard the ship.

The Porter told me that a couple boys were taken off in handcuffs, the boys were lined up against the wall and 1 by 1 processed.

I would not have been a happy parent to get the call from my son telling me he was arrested. Wonder if this group of boys were banned for life.

Well you can't blame the boys, I mean what happens on vacation stays on vacation and doesn't follow you home, right? Some adults and teenagers out there believe that principle and morals should go out the window while on vacation. They see it as an excuse to get drunk and act like idiots without thinking about the consequences or how their actions might affect other people.

Until this thread it never occurred to me that you can get banned for life but at least it beats the alternative jail.

You can pretty much get banned for life from any private property. I know of people banned from Walmart, Disney World, Sports Venues and Casinos. No surprise that they have that in their policy.

Never really heard of being banned for life from a cruise line. That being said, I've come across some passengers that should be.

Yup. You can be banned from hotel chains as well.

This country (U.S.), is better than ever! Proud to be raising two kids in it.

I actually have some experience with this. My best friend is "banned for life" from CCL. We were on a cruise a few years ago, and long story short, she had too much to drink, was arguing with her husband, and we couldn't find her. I called security because I was worried and we finally found her an hour later sleeping on a deck chair. It was a bad night, and definitely not the norm for my friend. They took her down to the security office and made her sign paperwork, and told her that even if she booked a cruise they would allow her to pay for it and then deny her boarding. I was standing there when they said this.

Now were in a jam because of my wedding. I emailed JH about a month ago about trying to get her ban lifted- no response.

They did not give her copies of anything (I was there with her).

I'm interested to know how this plays out. Please keep us posted, OP.

Um, she got banned for getting drunk and passing out on a deck chair?

Are you sure there is nothing you are leaving out?

If that is true, I would think the banned list would be more like the phone book.

As I mentioned, she was missing for an hour. They had an APB out for her, had staff searching all over the ship for her, etc. They almost called the coast guard and stopped the ship because they couldn't find her.

Hmmm, Ok. I guess that is pretty serious, especially if they were going to stop the ship.

How does one go missing on a cruise ship? Unless you seriously think she was suicidal, you overacted in calling security. I go missing every night, from between 2200 and 0600 and the way I sleep, I won't be answering the door or hear the phone or pages over the loudspeaker. And if you do think she is possibly suicidal, then getting her banned from a cruise ship probably is a good thing.

Sounds to me like they didn't "search" very well if she was found sleeping peacefully on a deck chair. It's not like she was holed up hiding somewhere!

I was thinking the same thing.

Unless you had some serious proof she would harm herself , I would do a really thorough search of the ship myself before I called out the posse.

I am a 9-1-1 dispatcher , you would be surprised how many people call frantic that some one is missing screaming yelling begging demanding every cop in the city comes .............2 minutes later they call back , the act is over , they are calm as can be , some even laughing...

Oh never mind she was at the neighbors house having coffee, or he was downstairs in my sisters apartment in the bathroom and didn't hear us ....You don't check these places first ?????
