To those who have visited Akaroa the last couple of years. Is there a shuttle service to the Christchurch CBD; or does one have to arrange their own transport?

The ship organises a Christchurch on your Own tour.

You can check out the Shore Excusions for your cruise on the cruise line web site.I think the Princess one is around $85.

Other than that you can check out Akaroa.com and see what they offer.

Gazza, when we were there last February, a local guy had a bus trip to Christchurch and back for $50. You do your own thing in Christchurch. We are thinking of doing that next year if it is still possible.

Or stay and enjoy Akaroa We are there Christmas Day and are taking a harbour cruise to see the miniature dolphis Hectors dolphins

Bear in mind its a long drive from Akaroa to Christchurch, something like 80 mins each way, so you're using up 2 1/2 hrs of your day in driving time. Not trying to put you off as Christchurch needs visitors but Akaroa is a lovely town to visit in its own right and well worth a look around.

Yes, we've been there four times and found something different each time and it is always pleasant to wander around. Akaroa's French history is interesting as well. :)
