mirglip69 Posted November 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I never play slots. My wife loves them. Two cruises ago, I plopped down beside her while she was playing on of those progressive banks of machines. Just for fun, I put a $20 in and played the max. On the third spin, hit $1,800. We cashed out and went to the bar for a drink!
GROUCHPUSS Posted November 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2013 no, but it is a lot of fun. I started doing something a little different this last time. I charge 20 entry 5.00 goes in a pot for highest single pull the rest goes in the machine. This way someone always wins!
Isa65 Posted November 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I've participated in 2 slot pulls organized by our roll call. $20 for a whole lot of fun. Highest machine pay out was $138 :). But we all walked away with $12 and spent 2 hours laughing and joking. So for the price of $8, we had great entertainment.

Mulege Posted November 6, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Not me, but saw a slot pull with about 30 people hit a $10,000 plus jackpot. The casino staff said it was the first time they saw one that big.

The casino staff said it was the first time they saw one that big. That would kind of suck! Someone is getting a 1099 on that $10,000.00 and will have to pay taxes because Carnival does not hold taxes on winnings. So I guess the payout winner would have to 1099 all the players or something like that to not have to pay taxes on the full amount? Anyone know? I've hosted two slot pulls and have a third one coming up next month. One of our "rules" is that if somebody has a single spin of $1,200 or more (the cutoff where Carnival must report to IRS), that person will receive a cash payout of 25% of that spin before any other distributions are made. RuthlessBoss Posted November 6, 2013 #16 Share Posted November 6, 2013 My slot pull is a one person deal. Guess I'll hold out $5 to be sure I take home something :D
bankofdad Posted November 6, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 6, 2013 never won much on Carnival, but never lost much either. On Golden Princess I hit it with a $700 dollar win near the beginning of the cruise, and then won almost $2,400 later on during the same cruise. Went to the bar, and have not stepped foot in a casino since! Quit while I was ahead LOL:D

Anyone know? did two slot pulls on our B2B cost $15 each first cruise everyone got $11 back second cruise everyone got back $16 FYI now if you have a Canadian in your group playing in the sot pull, let the Canadian claim it as a win. Why you ask ... yes the taxes are held back but as a Canadian i can fill in paperwork when i get home and send the USA treasurey department and I can claim all the taxes that are being withheld and i get sent a cheque back for all the taxes withheld. :) it takes about 6 months for all the paperwork to go through but the cheque is always in the mail. soccersharon Posted November 6, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) Well what is a slot pull then? A slot pull is usually held by a roll call group. Everyone enters with a certain amount, and have an equal number of spins. Any winnings are divided equally among the participants :) Sent from my GT-S5830D using Forums mobile app Edited November 6, 2013 by soccersharon
michelle1836 Posted November 6, 2013 #21 Share Posted November 6, 2013 we had a fun roll call slot pull but did not win big :( we did win some but ended up being a loss when you subtract what we paid initially. good luck!
sc4125 Posted November 6, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Took part in my first M&G slot pull o!n the Dream in September - it was a lot of fun cheering everyone on, but didn't win enough to even break even, so we took the winnings (what little there was) and put it on roulette - lost it, but again, only cost $20 ($5 from each person was put in a pot for the person who got the biggest hit during their turn - 3 people tied) and it was definitely worth the $20. A lot of fun and exciting thinking we could hit big.
oldmedic Posted November 6, 2013 #23 Share Posted November 6, 2013 we did one in sept. on the triumph...$20.00 in with 10 pulls each(2.00 MAX BET PER PULL)... returned something like $13.65 (or something like that ) lots of fun ... I consider the money spent when I walk into the casino, so it is a bonus if I walk out with with money in my pocket... the others we lost all the front end money, or walked out with less than $10.
