twopats Posted November 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2013 We recently sailed on the 8/31 TA on the Brilliance and there were so many Diamond and Diamond Plus members that lounge chairs were gone by 4:30 pm. They had to offer cocktails, as well as wine, to everyone due to the overwelming numbers of passengers, so for the Diamond members, this was a surprising treat. Am wondering how the Allure handles the cocktail hour? Do they segregate the Diamond and Diamond Plus and what are the hours? Just wine for the Diamond members? Trish Uh, don't quite understand your post, as you don't name the venue you are talking about. Since the Brilliance has both a Diamond lounge and a CL in the Viking Crown area, I'm guessing you are talking about overflow into the main Viking Crown area? If this were the case the D guests would be entitled to cocktails as usual, so it would not be a "surprising treat". As you say, this was a TA, so you were not seeing how the Brilliance operates on a normal cruise. The Allure, like most ships, has separate DL and CL. Ds can utilize the DL, while D+s can use either. Both have cocktails and snacks.
leaveitallbehind Posted November 6, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) I too am confused by your comments as there is no separation of cocktail hour benefits between D and D+. On every ship we've sailed as D, we always received the full cocktail hour benefits as we do as D+. Often ships with Diamond Clubs will have large numbers of D / D+ / Pinnacle on board and will use overflow venues (Cloud Nine / Seven Hearts on Freedom class ships for example) to handle all members. On Oasis and Allure, if the Diamond Club is too crowded due to the number of D / D+ / Pinnacle on board, they will typically move - or add - the venue to Dazzles to accommodate the larger number. Could you maybe be thinking of access to the Concierge Club by D+ members? (along with Suite guests and Pinnacle members). There is separation there as D's cannot access that lounge. Goes Cruising Posted November 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2013 I think you may be thinking about Diamond Events vs. the Diamond lounge? Diamond events only server beer/wine. The Diamond lounges serve mixed drinks to all who are entitled (D, D+, Pinnacle). Does that answer the question?

Possible for Brilliance as the Diamond Club was only recently added and may not have been there on their cruise. But Allure, which they also refer to questioning separating D and D+, has had a Diamond Club since it was launched, so that would not come into play there. I assume the OP is D and maybe they have not yet been on a ship with a Diamond Club since they have become D? Maybe they can clarify. luv2ski98 Posted November 6, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Last week 10/27/13 on allure they used blaze nightclub for diamond lounge and on halloween they used the jazz club due to the fact they made blaze into a haunted house
critterchick Posted November 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 6, 2013 Brilliance had her upgrades earlier this year or in 2012, didn't she? OP was on the 8/31/13 TA, so had access to a true Diamond Lounge and the full drink menu. Allure also has a Diamond Lounge, and if there are sufficient numbers of qualifying passengers (or maybe all the time), will hold the cocktail hour (with the full array of cocktails found in the DL or CL) in Blaze, the disco, rather than cramming everybody into the DL. But that only adds to the confusion on the OP's comments then as, if correct, there certainly would have been a Diamond Club (in the Viking Crown Lounge) which would have provided the full drink menu as you indicate.
