Can you please help me, we are going to cruise to Hawaii and want to know which is the best month to do this in. We have the choice of January or July/August/September. Thanks

The weather is about the same year round....in Jan, you will have a chance to see humpback whales, as they winter in Hawaii....

July, August and September are the hottest months, but even in January, I don't think you'll be complaining about cool weather...although typically there is more rainfall than in the summer months.

 

We were in Hawaii in March/April and again in October this year, and had great weather both times, but the ocean temp was about 5°F warmer in Oct. than in the spring ... very nice for staying in longer for swimming and snorkelling.

 

As CD mentions, the whales will be there in Jan. and they are a big highlight!

For me, my priority is the humpbacks. :) I have gone in Nov (too early) Dec, Jan and Feb. Multiple times. I also, try and snorkel every day, with trips usually 3 weeks. Water is a little cooler, I use my wet suit.

We love Jan/Feb timeframe. For us it's a good time to leave winter weather behind for a few weeks and go whale watching.

You may want to go in Jan or Feb when the weather there is very nice and it is winter where you live.

I vote January. You will see lots of whales (even from shore) and big waves. We went in March and had this experience. The weather was great.
