kcwingwalker Posted November 12, 2013 #76 Share Posted November 12, 2013 This is absolute nonsense....because they only dance at dessert time! Your entree has already been served . Sorry, but I have not found this to be the case.
cv322 Posted November 12, 2013 #77 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Not so. When you do set dining that may be the case but YTD is becoming far more popular now and people are at all different stages of their meal. Ok, point well taken :)...I always do traditional dining ;)...and it's always at dessert. Sorry, but I have not found this to be the case. Well that's ALL I've experienced...on 16 or 17 Carnival cruises...I always book traditional dining...and they always dance at dessert time. As the poster (above) has pointed out, it may be different with YTD...and I'll agree that that may be the case! :D
anubian Posted November 12, 2013 #78 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Get real massage therapists in the spa. The girl who did my first and last one seemed to only use her fingertips (3 fingers on each hand) to do a deep tissue. She was very young and didn't even seem welcoming. This suggestion leads to the staffing issue....someone posted that the staff seemed unhappy. I agree...the staff in the Lido restaurant, on my last cruise, seemed to be tired of vacationers. Carnival needs a morale committee to keep the workers happy. It would be nice to have more trips to ports in Dominican Republic, Antigua, Aruba and Martinique. Maybe better combinations of ports. I agree with others about more live bands. I love reggae and calypso bands. Dj's are good in nightclubs but bring back poolside live bands. Better breakfast variety in the MDR. Even though I always order eggs Benedict it's because there isn't much to order...try a nice frittata or specialty omelets. Rotate them on the menu. Better activities...how about a dance contest or shaved ice eating contest or daily scavenger hunts or pub crawls...something other than watching someone carve ice. One year there was a couple, who did arts and crafts every morning. Hubby and I made a S&S card holder and foldable scissors holder. They were a lovely older couple. I haven't seen any activity like that in a while. It was held during the morning puzzle handout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mulege Posted November 12, 2013 #79 Share Posted November 12, 2013 No smoking on any balcony and no smoking inside the ship anywhere. Ditch dancing waiters. Move the cover band away from the casino to an area where people can dance with some ambience. Flat iron is something you use to iron your clothes, not a name for a real steak. Come on bring back the real deal. Forget comfort foods. I am on vacation and want things I don't make at home. Add sodas, juices, and gourmet coffees, teas to the beverage package. TwinPrincessMermaids Posted November 12, 2013 #80 Share Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) This is absolute nonsense....because they only dance at dessert time! Your entree has already been served . Hmm how would you know that? Our desserts didn't get served half the time until the lights were blinking on and off like "get out for the next service!" (And other times, we had to take them in their covered trays to go or we would miss the comedy show.) Really, I would agree with you if the dining room wasn't falling behind so bad. In their defense, they were seriously overworked with a 12 top and other tables all ordering multiple entrees and appetizers. But nonsense? :mad:Who you callin' nonsense... halos Posted November 12, 2013 #81 Share Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) 1 lower the rates , the last six months the rates are just to high2 allow more than 5 in a room ( after all it's only for sleeping and we can shower in the spa) 3. More comfort food , corned dogs and funnel cakes get the rates to 30 pp per nite omg....LOL. I am assuming/ hoping you are beign sarcastic here :) My answer to the question is just restore the line to what it was back in 2003 to EARLY 2008....This is when CCL was (imo) at it's best. (my fisrt CCL cruise was 1991) Edited November 12, 2013 by halos
anubian Posted November 12, 2013 #82 Share Posted November 12, 2013 1. new ports2. get rid of dj and bring back live music 3. fire some of the top dogs and hire people who know a thing or two about cruising. 4. shows - no more trivia, no more Hasbro game. I want to see a show at night. not other cruise passengers doing a game show or talent show. 5. fountain pop 6. no more bacon police I agree about the fountain soda. I was at Blizzard Beach at Disney this summer and they have a cup that they sell that which activates the fountain soda stations. If you don't have the special cup then you can't get soda. We paid 9.99 per cup which included free refills. Carnival could still charge a daily price and those who purchase the soda plan must use their cup to get the soda. 2 cruzen Posted November 12, 2013 #85 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Carnival's Brand Ambassador/Senior Cruise Director has pointed out in the past that the "Bacon Police" are there because when bacon was self-serve, people took many times more than they ever ate, leading to exorbitant waste. If it is more economical to hire an employee than live with that much waste, I can understand since that's a heckuva lot of waste! I do, however, wonder if some sort of serving machine can be developed which dispenses a single bacon strip at a time. Those who want more bacon simply press the button or lever or whatever a few more times, just like you can ask the "Bacon Police" for more bacon and they'll give it to you. Might free up a crewmember in the morning to go after chair hogs... OMG..there is waste EVERYWHERE. Can't believe the plates FULL of desserts during the chocolate extravaganza lunch that are left on tables.
DJandSydney Posted November 12, 2013 #86 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Just got off a four-day on the Imagination and everything from beginning to end was just great (for the price paid) The only thing I probably would change is the music on the Lido deck I understand not being able to have a live band but the mix for the demographics that were there certainly was too young and too loud. Where is the Caribbean vibe musicie; Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney...etc that would make people little bit more relaxed and enjoying that laid back feeling and not have to have the party hat on all the time thumping away!!! Rare dshefter Posted November 12, 2013 #89 Share Posted November 12, 2013 A dedicated cigar bar like NCL and Princess have. You could eliminate smoking on balconies and have people go to the cigar bar. Enforce the dress code in MDR. If it says no shorts and tank tops, then don't allow passengers to dine who come in wearing that attire. If you want to wear shorts and a t-shirt at dinner, go to the buffet. A sushi bar on all ships. Offer drink cards. Like 10 drinks for $55-60. I can't drink enough to purchase the Cheers program, but during the course of a cruise, I will enjoy a few cocktails. This way you don't have to keep bringing out your S&S card. Just buy a card and wait staff can punch it each time you buy a drink.
DJandSydney Posted November 13, 2013 #90 Share Posted November 13, 2013 They go by whats popular on the radio and what keeps the party going. That's what a DJ does ,its their job Sorry Mike they don't know their job and play what appeals to their 20 something age group with no regard to the demo of that particular cruise. One of the biggest complaints is the music mix and how blaring loud it can be.

I don't agree but they do know their job ;) Carnival is so cheap because young people can now cruise for $499 for the week .They want new cruisers and that's what the dj plays Sorry but it is what it is They have cruise lines for everyone ,you just need to pay for them as times change

More comfort food , corned dogs and funnel cakes Get the rates to 30 pp per nite Best suggestion so far! I think they should do like Celebrity with refreshments when you re-board back from port, and have nice juicy corn dogs ready to roll ;) Edited November 13, 2013 by Stateroom_Sailor
mypokey2 Posted November 13, 2013 #93 Share Posted November 13, 2013 I agree with all of this. Our last 2 cruises we only had Latin Music that was very loud and clogged the main walkway by the casino. There a a lot of empty rooms that can accommodate music venues and a variety for all ages and music tastes should be easily taken care of.
boaterette Posted November 13, 2013 #94 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Bring back the jazz bands that use to play where you could smoke cigars. It was always packed. Get rid of the DJ who plays rap when the group there is in their 50's and older. Add more hot food options to the inroom service. Get rid of so much TRIVIA. Bring back horse racing by the pool. Add Panama canal voyages several times a year. Ban unattended children. So much could be done.:D

mikel24m Posted November 13, 2013 #96 Share Posted November 13, 2013 It stinks. It is what it is though.I would love the old days when they played on deck but to pay a band for the week or pay a DJ to play a cd is cheaper. The only thing I have seen prices going down year after year are cruises (and houses) People want cheap and affordable and people want $250 a night dinners and broadway shows for $40 a night ...we cant have both

randyj266 Posted November 13, 2013 #100 Share Posted November 13, 2013 Seems a lot of the suggestions cost money, which in turn would increase fares, which in turn would start another thread outraged about the fare increases. Same with chairs on the decks, the one time your partner forgets something in the room or has to go to the bathroom and someone snags the seat right next to you claiming there is no "seat saving", most will flip their lid and write a letter to the CEO. The grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side.;)
