fortinweb Posted November 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Too frequently I read posts from people who seemed convinced that cruise lines treat their employees poorly, many claiming that they are being mistreated, overworked, paid unfairly, and in some extreme posts, even accusations of borderline slavery. I am heartened to read how much the cruise lines are doing to help the typhoon victims in the Philippines, as reported by CruiseCritic on their news page: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=5608 . From small actions such as offering free internet and phone calls to locate loved ones, to in some cases assisting in travel arrangements so they can look for family members, to large $1 million dollar donations to relief funds. Kudos to the cruise lines and the cruise industry for doing what most of us are convinced they have been doing all along - caring for their employees. Kudos to the cruise lines and the cruise industry for doing what most of us are convinced they have been doing all along - caring for their employees. I'd read that RCCL was doing this. Glad to hear the other cruise lines are as well... especially, the help they are giving their crew members in locating love ones back home. Hopefully, passengers on cruise ships now and in the weeks to come will be very generous with their tips to those going through this tragic situation. Colorado Kat Posted November 14, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2013 Carnival, together with the Miami Heat, pledged $1 Million dollars already. Good for them!
navybankerteacher Posted November 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2013 It is encouraging to hear that the cruise lines are reacting generously to the situation. Perhaps it is also the turn of cruise passengers to kick in a little extra as well - there are lots of organizations willing to apply any donations towards relief efforts.
