thesparkster Posted December 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2013 hi. what currency do I need to take for a Caribbean cruise please. is it American Dollars?
sagaris Posted December 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2013 US dollars are accepted on the caribbean islands, although you will possibly get any change given, in local currency. If you purchase anything or use local tour guides ask for the price in US dollars as the Caribbean dollar is a different exchange rate. Rare Host Sharon Posted December 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Some islands also use Euros - where they are Dutch or French etc.

Rare dronnygirl Posted December 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Always useful to carry some $1 notes in the Caribbean as there are local people trying to make a living by selling small hand made items. Also useful as some places charged a dollar for the loo!
davecttr Posted December 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2013 The caribbean is straighforward. US dollars including small denomination notes and euros for the French and Dutch Islands On board ship you will need sterling but only if you use the casino! ParCan Posted December 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Just to note: People will always quote Local Dollars. Make sure you get a price in US Dollars or you can easily end up over paying.....
travelaroundworld Posted December 4, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2013 Always a wise idea to bring accepted currency since exchange rates onboard are always not good... All P&O ships use pounds which is really convenient :)
