Do you live in this pristine bubble? I have done my share at Disneyland when my kids were younger and couldn't even imagine your post about filthy. Yes, expensive and crowded but from what I understand, the Disney cruise is top notch beyond characters.

 

I understand some people are germaphobe and any sight of dust spell fifth or garbage

From a parent of two young kids who has sailed both CCL and DCL in the last year. Carnival needs more kid friendly attractions other than the kids club. There are plenty of adult activities and events but nothing for kids. DCL has the perfect balance of adult and kid friendly attractions. Yes it costs more on DCL but you save it on alcohol and excursions. Plus a balcony room is twice the size.

 

The Seuss at Sea is a good idea IMO. If you don't have kids....just avoid it. It won't affect the quality of your vacation just as the casino and night clubs don't affect the quality of my kids vacation.

Yes it's nice that you can carry on booze on DCL if you are a drinker but how do you save on excursions when you cruise DCL?

 

I've sailed with them 3 times but not since the newbuilds entered service and always paid the same price on excursions as they other ships would have charged.

I find the excursions on CCL over priced. Maybe I am not comparing apples to apples since the port of calls are different. Also as someone else mentioned Castaway Cay is almost like a free excursion in itself.

 

The other savings is the free pop on DCL but that isn't a huge savings. I was surprised how much less the alcohol drinks were on DCL than CCL. I guess Carnival makes money off drinks where Disney makes money on the fares.

As a parent I say, no it doesn't. Carnival has the exact right amount of child centered stuff already. The Seuss stuff seems like a good idea, but I hope that is it. Too much more and it would become a Disney ship. Which means it would be full of kids and family activities. We purposely stay away from Disney because we want to avoid all that. If I want 24/7 kids and family I'll hang out at Chuck E Cheese.

I've gone with my teen son one trip, my 5 yo grandson one trip, and once with just my wife and myself.

 

They have kids areas that keep the kids busy and out of site and they have adults only areas, even on their private island.

 

I wouldn't hesitate to cruise Disney again with just my wife if Disney would just lower their prices a bit.:)

I think Carnival's balance is fine. I have small children and love the Dr. Seuss idea. Bu I'm not interested in even more kid-centered themes unless they will simply be to enhance camp carnival and therefore only folks using camp carnival privy to them. A family cruise is supposed to be about the entire family - not just the kids who aren't footing one cent of the bill!:)

 

I can't imagine going on a Disney cruise without kids. For one thing I've had my fill with Disney having gone there numerous times throughout my life plus all of their channels and products are big hits in this house. But I also wouldn't want to shell out that kind of dough and not bring a child along to enjoy it all. I've heard their top of the line. Their prices certainly reflect as much.

Go to any bookstore. Ask what are their best selling children's books? Dr. Seuss.

 

Go to a library. Which books are dog eared? Dr. Seuss.

 

Children..young children like rhyming and alliteration. And not scary "things" and "thangs" Not....The wild things of Sendak.

 

Guess he has never heard Cat in the Hat Day. Or Dr. Seuss Day. Many I mean MANY schools celebrate this every year.

 

My son is a music teacher and has put several Dr. Seuss sayings to music.

 

Taking my sister on her first cruise in September. She loves Dr. Seuss. To bad the Liberty will not be outfitted yet.

We love Disney. We just were at Disneyworld the second week of December.

The place was all decirated for the holidays and was beautiful.

 

Not everybody loves Disney though but we wouldn't hesistate to book a Disney cruise if the prices go down.

Yes, I've been told this many times. Was also told Disney World wouldn't be something like an elementary school recess. We all have different tolerance levels and our trip to Disney World was one of the worst in my life. :mad: The last time I saw so many crying, angry children(and parents) was when the movie reel broke near the end of The Little Mermaid. Miserable experience and I can't fathom how being stuck on a boat with all those kids can be better.

We also don't cruise Carnival, NCL, or RC in summer or vacations for the same reason.

 

We don't do Disney, but I'm glad there is a place for people who are into that sort of thing.

Choice is good! Luckily when we just went to Disney World there weren't many kids during the week. weekends were though but we survived.:)
