R_i_c_h Posted December 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Hi, I'll be on my first Carnival cruise (The Pride out of Baltimore) in about a week and had couple quick questions. 1. Does anyone have Carnival's laundry and dry cleaning price list? 2. Do they have CBS at the sport bar? Specifically, I would like to watch the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve. (Go Hokies!) 3. I'm assuming that they carry Miller Lite. How much is it? 4. If I buy a bottle of wine in the dining room and don't finish it that night, will they keep it for me until the next night? Any suggestions for a decent Cab, Shiraz, or an Italian Red in the <$50 range? 5. On the Pride, what's my best bet for a laid back bar for pre-dinner drinks? Any input on any of the above questions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rich

Beer is about $5.75 plus tip, buckets around $24. They will kept your wine but I think there is a $15 corkage fee, not 100% on that. We wife drinks their chocolate martini before dinner. dee2sxy Posted December 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Yes it is $15 a load; but, I wouldn't suggest putting any sensitive or expensive items out to wash. My clothes came back dingy. No you can not legally bring alcohol on board except wine. Yet, it happens every cruise. It is the luck of the draw with baggage check.
R_i_c_h Posted December 20, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 20, 2013 $15 for a load seems reasonable and so do the drink prices. Thanks for the info, guys. Please chime in if anyone else has suggestions on wine or a bar to hang out in. Rich
bigdog1958 Posted December 20, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2013 They do have CBS station out of Miami... you should be good there.. do not know about the laundry... Wine not sure of the price, they do have a 3 or 5 bottle package you can purchase to have at dinner.. They do offer at least one sharz... Peter lehmann weightbridge? by the glass its about 7.50 plus tip... The pride has two bars near the restaurant.. one right outside the MDR at the back of the ship, and the lobby or atrium bar is also on deck 2 the same as the MDR.. Rare Rogueperson Posted December 20, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Also, fair warning about buying drinks on the first day. They will add a MD tax to it so long as you are still in MD waters
SadieN Posted December 20, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 20, 2013 You can bring on a bottle of wine for each pax over the age of 21. A $15 corkage fee might be charged when consumed in the dining room. The wine (yours or bought onboard) can be held for you. You can also bring on sodas. Drycleaning is about the same at home. As said above there is a laundry bag special around $15/bag. The bag looks small but can hold alot when everything is rolled and packed tightly- several pairs of long khakis, 5-6 shirts, underwear, socks. Only send clothes that can handle hot water and high heat. There is also a pressing service. Self laundry is $3wash and $3 dry. I don't remember seeing CBS onboard. The feed comes from Miami. There are several sports stations shown around the ship.
caribsun Posted December 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2013 They also have do it yourself laundry rooms on every other deck. Each adult can carry on one bottle of wine. There is a 15.00 charge to open the bottle in the dining room or open it in the cabin and carry a glassof wine to the MDR. If you purchase a bottle of wine in the MDR they will hold it for when ever. They have wine discounts if you buy multiply bottles. Miller Lite is 16 oz. aluminum cans. We like going to the Atrium Bar for drinks and to listen music before dinner. crzndeb Posted December 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 20, 2013 I haven't been on the Pride, but have sailed her sister, the Spirit several times. I have found that the lounge outside of the upper floor of dining room, is a lot less crowded, than the lounge outside the downstairs entrance to dining room. The Atrium is always a great place for a pre dinner cocktail, but it does get crowded, especially on picture nights. Debbie
R_i_c_h Posted December 20, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Lots of good info. I'm too lazy to do my own laundry or carry wine, so I'll be at Carnival's mercy. :) I'll probably do the $15 bag so I can pack 1/2 the tshirts, shorts, etc for the week. I'll look into the wine package when I get onboard, but it's good to know that they'll hold unfinished bottles for you. Most of you think they have CBS. Nice. I'll pack my Hokies jersey. :) I'll try out the Atrium Bar. Right by the MDR and has music? Sounds perfect. Thanks a bunch, everyone. Rich

realtrip Posted December 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 20, 2013 They have three levels of wine package. Each package has several wines to choose from ( red-white- rosé-bubbly). Once you purchase the package they will give you 5 tickets to use to exchange for any bottle from the level you purchased. You can use the tickets to get a bottle of wine for the cabin for a pre dinner drink or you can get a bottle for dinner, it's up to you. We usually get the package because it's easy. You can exchange your ticket at almost any bar on the ship. We also like the atrium for pre dinner drinks. Nice music, great spot to people watch. Have a great cruise! crzndeb Posted December 20, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 20, 2013 Thanks, Debbie. We'll look upstairs as well. Rich I think once you get on the ship and find bartenders and servers that you really like, you will probably stick to that certain bar. Sample them all is my motto. There is also the Sports Bar and Casino Bar. If you will have a child with you, scratch the Casino Bar, plus it's smoky. Al of the lounges (except Sport Bar), should have some type of music, pre dinner. Just depends on the type of music you prefer.
BeachLoverstoo Posted December 20, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 20, 2013 If you buy wine by the bottle or the package, there's no corkage fee. Since you don't plan to bring wine on board, no worries. In addition to the five-bottle plan we brought the two allowed bottles. One night we were charged the $10 corkage fee, the other night we were not. It just depends on your bar staff.

I'm not a wine connoisseur by any means. I usually just find what I like in the $15-30 range. I figure the onboard markup is almost negated by the corkage fee so I just order off of the ship's wine list. Rich
