Cash Vault casino game - anyone ever win?

It's important to note that NO games of skill are allowed in most casinos other than where the house takes a fixed percentage (rake). Games can have an element of skill to them to mitigate risk (blackjack for example) , but random chance must always be part of the mix. The only question is the odds.

 

I'm still miffed that this is a game of chance and not skill. :rolleyes: Thankfully I never put money in the darn thing, but I assuredly thought about it (never had a $1 in my pocket when I was wandering through the casino :p ). On my last cruise, the top prize was $1,000, no iPad. Someone apparently did win the intermediate prize...

Quite true, but it certainly appears that it is purely a game of skill... so even if you line up the key perfectly every time, the machine "distorts" it so that you lose until the odds counter is satisfied...

On the Caribbean Princess sailing Dec 7-14, my friends and I played this game on the first night. My friend became addicted to it and actually won the bottom row prize ($100) after about 30 tries. Someone a few days later won the top row ($1000). There is definitely an element of skill because you still have to line up the key, but there are times when it is impossible to win so the key will stray upward and not fit. It's essentially a more interactive slot machine.

Somewhere (if not on this tread, then on another about the same subject) it was pointed out that the game is set to pay off after around 700 and some odd plays. Just like other casino games there is a payout to income ratio that is set by the casino.

 

Congratulations on winning, btw. FYI, I won a little over $5000.00 on a slot machine on a cruise that we were on last year. I certainly won't count on doing that again on every cruise in the future. In fact I won't count on it ever again (I've played slots long enough to know that that was a fluke for me and for most people -- I know, someone will win, but, most don't). Keep pumping in those dollars and hopefully some of us will get a few back.

Carnival must have larger cash prizes. The largest cash pack on Princess I think was $1,000.

On my last cruise on the Regal I talked to a woman who hit the machine twice - for $100 and $200 (as I recall). I didn't see her do it, but she showed me the wrappers that had been around the cash. That's what she kept (besides the $$) to show her husband that she'd actually won!
