Our ship will be docked in St. Thomas from 1:00-9:00pm. Does anybody know of any really nice beaches there that are easy to get to? Also we are going to be there later in the afternoon. How long is the sky ride open till. I can't find the times on line.

Hours: Open daily 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and till 2 a.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays

Magens Bay is nice but a victim of it's own popularity, and we found it very crowded. However, you being there later in the day may mean that the crowds disappear at a reasonable hour. Next time we'll be going to some of the less advertised beaches.

The Paradise Point sky ride is thoroughly recommended, the view is breathtaking. Check out the "lottery prize" houses on the way up the hill.

Depends on what you want. a really nice beach is Sapphire or Coki on the East End, $10pp taxi each way and both offer anything you need. Coki is livelier while Sapphire quieter and has natural shade.

If you're docked at Crown Bay and want something close Honeymoon Beach via ferry to Water Island or Lindbergh Bay and the Best Western Emerald Plus Beach Hotel are close by.

The tram to Paradise Point is within walking distance of Havensight if you're docked there. The hours quoted above are new and I'm glad to hear they're open late all evenings now if that is accurate.

Going to St. Thomas next month. We want to see the island and go to probably Meagan's Bay. We don't want the huge expense of a shore excursion. Has anyone done it on their own? Is there a private company? Can you do it by taxi?

We would like to go to both sapphire and Coki. Which would be the first stop ? I think Coki might be more fun for our last stop but which one do we get to first. How much taxi from one to the other.

Godfrey's Tours will take you for a beach visit, as well as some shopping time, but you can also take a taxi/jitney to any of the popular beaches, including Magen's Bay, Sapphire, and Coki. Finding a taxi for a full island tour won't be a problem at all - not sure about the cost, though.

Depends on which way the driver chose to drive. Sapphire will be more quiet and tranquil. Coki is right next to Coral World and is a bit rockier.
