Just spoke with NCL and was told it will be effective January 10, 2014 and include 3 specialty restaurants and 20% off Ocean Blue and A La Carte Dining for $119 per person!

yes - but at the same time, after we upgraded our rooms to the Haven yesterday, and asking the rep if there was a divider between the sofa bed and the bed in the courtyard penthouse twice before booking it, he insisted there was, so today i get a call from a rep (?) and on a whim i ask about the room divider (i not happy about seeing my MIL sleeping right next to us) and she says NO! so i wound up booking a forward facing penthouse suite - so you get all kinds of answers !?!

We are sailing on the sun in 13 days and I was excited to check out the new Dining deal. We had planned on only 1 specialty restaurant, but thought we might expand with this new deal. After looking at it, we would only save $8 per person. Not a good enough deal for us to use this special. So we will stick with our original plan.

Also it does state that it is for 3 restaurants and on the Sun the 3 are: East Meets West, II Adagio & LeBistro. Moderno cannot be used in this special.

What you have seen is the "Signature Trio" that has been available on all ships for ages (three preselected speciality restaurant dinners for $57pp, meaning fixed $8 savings - not worth of pre-reserving and -paying if you ask me).

What this thread is about is more expensive Ultmate Dining Package (UDP) that doesn't limit the number of visits to any of the included speciality restaurants and should work in most speciality restaurants (ala carte priced ones excluded) - this package is not yet available on the website.

Please see the thread linked in post #2 for more details. :)

3 specialty restaurants and 20% off at Ocean blue is not a good deal. For $119, you can eat at 3 specialty restaurants and Ocean Blue.

As said in a later post, it's not just three restaurants and even if it was, there is no limit on how many times one goes to the restaurants included in the package to eat. Please read the other thread about the subject, it's a lot more comprehensive.

I was the one who initiated the other thread. so I am very familiar with it. Just wanted to correct what the OP said.

I just wonder if you could have an appetizer in one restaurant, entree in another, main course in still another and finish off with dessert in a fourth? Also, any limit on the appetizers?

Since it includes all speciality restaurants (except the a la carte ones), I can't see any reason why not. Also no limit on appetizers even without the package AFAIK (never tried, one has always been enough for me :D).

Hmmm why so expensive. The specialty restaurants range from $15 to $30 (not including Ocean Blue). $119 seems expensive and you could save money with separate bookings. For example if you ate 3 specialties @ $25 that would only be $75.

Am I missing something? When I read the NCL information, it seems unlimited.

I agree. We usually don't do any more than 3, and the family is tired of Teppenyaki now  so it looks like we really would only do Cagney's and Le Bistro. Not worth it for us.

The UDP allows you to eat at specialty restaurant every night of your cruise, not just three days. So for seven nights, times $30 per restaurant, for the higher priced options, that works out to $210. So $119 sounds like a good deal.

That's really cool but takes a lot of pre-planning. Do they expect you to book all the restaurants online before sailing?

It does seem like a deal but still not sure I would book it. We have a free dinner at Cagneys from our PCC plus expect to eat at the Haven restaurant at least once or twice.

BUT on the flip side we usually only eat at specialty restaurants so we still may book it LOL

A. No, all items listed on the menus are included in the package.

Does that mean the upgraded items on the menu, that have an additional charge without the UDP, are included?

I was wondering the same thing. I purchased mine today but don't sail until April so hopefully someone posts before that lol.

Tacked it on today, for a 4 day on Jan. 20th it was $59/person. So for wife and I it was $120.

$59 / 4nights = $14.75 per night per person

We will probably eat Cagney’s twice and Le Bistro twice

Considering Cagney’s is $30 & Le Bistro is $20

Cagney’s 2x$30 = $60

Le Bistro 2x$20 =$40

Total Value = $100

Savings = $40 per person

Regardless of how you look at it, if you use it, you save money.
