I do not think anyone has posted one of the best benefits for cruiser's of Emirates new European route from JFK to MXP (Milan Malpensa Airport). They even offer connections with Jet Blue from many cities all around the US.

As Emirates themselves started selling one-way tickets on these new routes, most carriers have matched these fares to Milan. United and Delta along with Air Canada, KLM and Lufthansa are among these. Turkish Airlines have also started selling one-way connections via Istanbul (IST) on many dates.

This was especially good for last minute travel this past month as they often had these fares available up to the day prior to travel.

From Milan you have easy train connections to Rome and Venice for cruises, but also have good options for a separate one-way flight tickets all over Europe.

Whoa. Just checked one-way air for a totally random date next October, and tons of options in the $540-560 range. Easy to hop a train to Venice/Rome for a TA. Very good news indeed...

Got a little blurb today from AMEX that we can now move Membership Miles over from AMEX accounts to Emirates. On a whim, looked at the possibility of a fall flight to Milan to do some playing around Italy again. The economy points needed was pretty darn good - 45,000. BUT, the fuel charge and taxes added up to $600-something…Don't know if I'd want to blow miles AND that much money.
