Is Galveston Really That Much Colder than Orlando?

I'm trying to decide on a Spring Break Cruise. I was all set to book NOS from Galveston when I read on another CC thread that the weather is so much colder on cruises ex Galveston that the pools and other on deck activities are foregone on the first and last days of the trip. Is this true?? In March??

 

If so,we may need to consider FLL or MCO!

Don't know about March, maybe by then it's significantly warmer. However, we've taken two January cruises out of Galveston and they were cool on the first and last day. Not many folks at the pool. This has not been the case for our January cruises out of Port Canaveral.

I love Galveston because it's close, but yes it can be considerably cooler from early winter through early spring. Often even the 1st sea day is too cold to use the pool unless you're made from heartier stock than I.

Average high temperature in Galveston in March is 69. In Orlando it's 78.

Texas weather can be cold one day and 80 the next. We went out of Galveston and yes, cool on first and last day. We still had fun, just think though, you're moving into warmer weather.

Have sailed out of Galveston twice in March. We wore a light jacket when outside at night. Plan on using the hot tub that night and you will be fine!!

Galveston was fine when I cruised out of her in March. However, the fog was awful and we were delayed in port for hours
