For the first week (Jan 4th sailing) search live update from the Summit

Continuing quick points "live" from hot and sunny Caribbean! (Look for the thread for Jan 4ths sailing posted earlier)

We're on a back-to-back and the turn around day was as easy as they come.

The last night our room attendant changed our bedding and anything we left in the room or the refrigerator stayed untouched. We didn't have to do a thing since we were B2B. No packing, no removing water bottles or our beer stashed in the cabin, nothing. It was like any other day on the ship save that we'd have to do the customs thing Saturday.

A leisurely breakfast before Blu closed at 8:00, (Cosmopolitan and AquaSpa also close at 8:00, the buffet at 8:30) then back to our cabin to await our 10:00 meet at Michael's Club to be escorted through customs and immigration before re-boarding. We planned to stay on the ship, but If we wanted to leave and explore we'd have be ready to go by 9:30.

Final call to disenbarque was at 9:30.

There were about 100 B2Bers and 40 of us decided to just stay on the ship. A transit pass for US Customs was delivered to everyone's cabin the night before, and it took ten minutes to walk off the Summit, walk past customs, re-board, and get our new ship card.

We were given a free pass to have lunch at Bristro at Five.

Now to a few questions:

New passengers began arriving at 11:00 and rooms were ready at 1:00 both the 4 th and the 11th sailings

Ice buckets are not placed in cabins by default, but if you ask they'll supply one.

The adult pool was under maintenance last week and only available the day after departure and today the main pool is being painted.

Did you say the Adult pool was closed for maintenance DURING the cruise????? That thal pool is the main reason I sail on the Summit. I would have been so upset if that happened on my cruise. Is that a normal occurrence or just a once in a blue moon kind of thing? Was it closed the whole week?

So what time is actual 'sail-away' anyway?

Trying to figure out what is the best time to eat dinner.

Also, what is the latest time to enter MDR with select dining?

I would really like to be at the sunset bar for sail-away but trying to figure out when to eat.

thanks

When we were on the Summit in December sail away was at 8:30 and they were within 15 minutes of that. We decided to just grab something from the buffet that night so we could be at the Sunset Bar during sail away.

Hi Ron

Yup 8:30 on the dot both sailings

Lots of questions about the ship answered here on my "live" Jan 4th reports:

First sea day and the wireless connection much better ( great actually) here than in San Juan.... Go figure

Thanks for posting. We are on a B2B beginning 3/29/14 and are interested in when the connections party & formal nights are. Thanks for your help & enjoy your second week.

We were on your last week sailing- Have never done a B2B but have thought about it

We loved our trip and had a great time on the Summit- Are you sick of the food or the islands? Are there any other perks for doing a B2B??

Please tell Justin Wade he is awesome !! Hope your weather this week is as good as last!!

There have been a lot of repetitive posts about "cutbacks".

Have you noticed significant changes from your last Celebrity experience?

Are you still happy with your choice of cruise line?

Sorry about the questions but the same people repeating their negative mantras makes me wonder if we're talking about the same cruise line. We were very happy with our recent Constellation back to backs and just can't understand the bitterness.

We are just off the Summit and it was our third time on the ship- I see no evidence of cut backs in food, presentation or service on Celebrity from my experience. I was concerned as well with the post before we left.

It's not bitterness......in my case I don't want to see anymore cutbacks! I want them to stop dumbing down (what is today) still a nice line. If nobody speaks up and/or complains it's going to continue to happen. If your fine with it, great. I WILL NOT be back if there are more cutbacks.

When were your formal nights?

Shirley

Sorry, cut and paste idiot, :o

Formal night on both cruises were Sunday and Thursday evenings

We're in windy Barbados under partly cloudy skies.

Ate at the Normandie last night o

And oh my god was it good! I actually Dreamed about it it was so perfect. The venison was perfect and Joni's rack of lamb delicious.

Our sea day was a bit more typical with few sunbeds available this run by the pool. Top decks were windy and kept the crowds down

The connections party was well attended with the captain coming and staying to chat.

Looking forward to dinner in Blu

When you say the connections party was the first day, do you mean embarkation day or the first full day on the ship? Thanks for the clarification. Hope you are having a fantastic cruise.

Shirley

It's on Sunday both legs, 5pm

I thought the Connections Party on the Jan 4 Summit was very well attended, and I circulated through the crowd meeting many of the 140 posters who participated in the roll call.

My first Celebrity cruise after 25 cruises on other lines, and it was one of the best cruise experiences I've had. Even won on the slots in the casino.

It was good seeing you Don, enjoy the rest of your B2B!
