I received a great postcard offer today from Carnival. If I book by 1-31 I will be a platinum (one sailing only, I'm currently red), 100.00 off fare and 100 OBC, plus 25.00 Casino Cash. We were going to book on RCCL, but this may be too good to pass up. If I can just talk the Mrs into it!

They're going to jump you from Red to Platinum? Is the offer genuine?

This does not sound like a legitimate offer, far too good to be true. I smell spam.

Red to Platinum is a minimum of 50 sailing days. If it is legitimate though, you should not pass it up.

Sorry, if I wasn't clear. The platinum is for this cruise only provided I book by 01-31. I'm thinking of doing it. The post card had John Heald and my PVPs name on it. I just got off the phone with him and as long as I sail by 08-31 its good.

I see someone asked JH about it, and he said he knows nothing about it. But that doesn't surprise me.

Also got one of those. But here is the funny part. The flyer quotes a couple of difference cruises and my husband got one and my son got one (he went on his first cruise this past May with a friend). We both got the platinum for one cruise but the pricing on his offer was about $50 less per cruise than ours? But, we both got the some $ off and $ OBC. Go figure!

You probably got different offers because they are testing different offers to see which produce the best returns. They just didn't mean to send differing offers to the same household. My spouse and I often get catalogs on the same day from the same company with different offers emblazoned on the front...

My understanding is that once Gold you remain Gold. You don't drop back to Red.

(sorry for the Hijack)

I'm not sure that is the case... With the "old system" you turned gold in your second sailing, there were no red cards. With the new system, you have to have accumulated 25 days at sea to remain gold. So, if it's been a while since you've sailed, you could've been gold and now will be red...
