Shore excursions after final payment?

We sail in 55 days and I was thinking about booking your excursion now though RCCL. I will have OBC. Do they wait and charge your onboard account or do you have to pay now?

Thanks !!

Anything you purchase before you are on board is immediately charged to your credit card.

However, I believe some of the OBCs are refundable. We had OBCs that were paid for as gifts from both our TA and our parents and those were refundable at the end of the cruise to us, however the OBCs coming from Royal as returning guests were "use it or lose it".

As was already said, prebooking excursions will be charged to a card. If you cancel the excursion before the deadline on board (I believe 24 hours), the credit gets applied to your onboard account, and any credit (aside from certain OBCs) gets refunded to your card on file for on board charges.

This was our first cruise where we got "paid" to leave the ship ;)

Just remember RCI can change it's policy on refunding OBC at any time!

What is this "leftover OBC" that everyone speaks of? :p

Even after doing private (non-Royal) excursions (75% of mine are), and prepaid gratuities, my OBC disappears without much effort.

Although if you don't drink, go to the casino, or try the specialty restaurants, I suppose it isn't that hard to have OBC left over.

To each their own of course; I'm not one to judge so long as you aren't the type that walks around the boat complaining out loud all day.

"Refundable OBC" is utterly ridiculous. Seriously, you got some OBC- either a gift or a perk... SPEND IT!! Are there really that many penny pinchers out there? Cruisers are really starting to evolve into a sad demographic...:(

I generally find those that don't drink, don't use the casino, and don't go to specialty restaurants are more likely to walk around complaining out loud all day. After all, it's pretty clear that they are opposed to having a good time!:D

My husband and I have been with RCCL for four decades now. Our evening drinks are free, we have enough pictures for souvenirs, we like the new MDR menu, we are very independent and don't purchase shore excursions, and we are a 4 hour drive from Las Vegas, so the ship's casino isn't appealing to us.

So, I guess we are the exception to your comment above: we have a great time on our cruises! We also either cash out or get a credit back to our card at the end of the cruise for the remaining obc. If it's RCCL's obc, then we give up 5% of it and get cash in the casino.......:D to you, too!

Pay now. After you make your choices, they ask for a credit card.
