The prices are the same (or were through start of December '13) and the list is the same. However the "Not available on board" is a little odd, because you actually can buy a bottle on board to take to your stateroom -- The list will vary slightly, the prices are the same but you pay gratuity of 15% instead of the setup fee of $3/bottle, and you get 6 mixers, no garnishes per the menu (but could probably talk the bartender out of some olives!).

The pre-order e-mail for the Star was GroupEventStar@ncl.com, so I guess yours would be GroupEvent[ship's name]@ncl.com -- to confirm the prices, etc. I did call the number in the e-mail I got back to make the actual order.

Whoops~ sorry, I forgot about that part. I just copied and pasted it from before~ You're right you can buy on board with the 15% added instead of the $3 fee~

@ Allie

No, they still say that "not available on board" in the e-mail they send... I only found out on board while glancing at the menu while waiting for a bartender, to get my Diet Pepsi, that you could indeed buy a bottle on board.

@ All --

I did take a digiphoto of that menu if labels of the booze might make a difference to you. I was glad I'd gotten my Captain Morgan; on board the choice was Bacardi Oakheart... which would probably have been fine... but happy. \:D/

Hi Artist:

I see in the other thread that you are sailing on N.Star. The Group Event coordinator for the Star (at least in November) was:

Ana Batres | Group Event Coordinator Star

800 327 – 9020 ext. 26173 | fax 305 436 - 4147

GroupEventStar@ncl.com

Thank you crystal!!!!

Much appreciated. If I get a chance on Monday, I will call and see if she is still there, and update the thread.

Maybe I am misunderstanding. DO you mean that you can buy a litre bottle of alcohol onboard and consume it onboard? Even brands that are not included on the list above?

I always thought that was not allowed, but maybe I was just thinking of the duty free purchases.

They will charge you the per drink price per quantity in the bottle.

Yes indeed you may purchase a bottle on board FROM A BAR and take it to your room where you may drink it OR pour it and carry it to any other place on the ship to drink it. The price is about 4 times (or 415% with the gratuity) that of a similar bottle in the duty-free shop which you may NOT take to your room, at least not until the last night and maybe not then.

But it is way less than by the drink prices. 1 liter =~34 fluid ounces =~ 22 1.5oz drinks

"Spirits" are $5.75/1.5oz shot (with mixer) +15% = $6.62 x 22 = $145.62

Bottle of "spirits" bought on board = US$80+15% = $92.

"Premium Spirits" are $6.25/1.5oz shot (with mixer) +15% = $7.19 x 22 = $158.18

Bottle of "Premium spirits" bought on board = US$100+15% = $115.

"Super Premium Spirits" are $6.75/1.5oz shot (with mixer) +15% = $7.76 x 22 = $170.72

Bottle of "Super Premium spirits" bought on board = US$120+15% = $138.

I am trying to decide whether it is less trouble to upload the photo to somewhere I can embed here, or copy the liquor list to my spread sheet. Back shortly with one or the other!

14-day Panama Canal trip for two people

2 bottles of Captain Morgan Rum pre-cruise bar setup -- US$166

2 bottles of BACARDI Oakheart if bought on board -- $184

same number of simple blends or shots, by the 1.5oz drink -- $291.24

UBP -- $1372

To be sure, we also bought 3 draft beers at Sailaway and two rum-n-diet at shows, so our total bar bill was $198 not $166.

Sheesh I'm blushing!

It does matter if you will be happy drinking the same one or two kinds of liquor/liqueur all cruise as someone pointed out in a different thread. But rum was a no-brainer for us -- you can sip it straight, you can put it in coffee/decaf, diet pepsi, mojito mix, even margarita mix (and call it a daiquiri)*. And you are not PROHIBITED from having something else from the bar to break it up!

*ETA -- and we did!
