artist47 Posted January 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Any ship, anywhere? I'll still do my own workout but it would nice to have an instructor onboard.
rbrugler Posted January 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2014 NCL is Freestyle cruising. This means that you are free to wear a Tai or not. It is really up to you.
anitsiva Posted January 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2014 Any ship, anywhere? I'll still do my own workout but it would nice to have an instructor onboard. They had a Tai-Chi Yoga class on my recent cruise. A mix of Yoga and Tai-Chi. $12 for the class.

I think she means Tai Chi as in that pink fruity drink with the umbrella in it. Not sure if it's part of the UBP or not.
shelly11 Posted January 20, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2014 I really hope everyone is kidding about not knowing what Tai Chi is, lol.
B6ConMe Posted January 20, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 20, 2014 I think you're referring to a Mai Tai, which would likely be a deterrent as far as Tai Chi goes

LOL...thanks for giggle of the day. Thanks also to all others....I've never understood the "mix" of Tai Chi and yoga....a little redundant of you ask me, but okay.... Sometimes our Chi needs a little blood alcohol content in order to function. :)
crystalspin Posted January 20, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2014 We saw people doing Tai Chi on the Promenade deck several times when we walked by. It did not seem to be a class, although I noticed one person did seem to be leading but isn't that the way groups do Tai Chi in public, so that they stay together? Yes, generally in the lower to mid levels of the art, we all stay together...after that, it's a little different, more one-on-one with a Master. I'm really happy to hear this tho! If there is one onboard my sailing, this is one group I will happily join in. :)

artist47 Posted January 21, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted January 21, 2014 I too witnessed a small group on the promenade deck (Pearl in Alaska). Thanks!!! Makes me do the happy dance ( a very deadly kata ....LOL!) Gotta say tho: that had to be COLD....I am something of a wuss when it comes to "cold" temps and wouldn't have joined that one and would have just made do in the gym.

Conshydot Posted January 21, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 21, 2014 You may want to check the bulletin board near Guest Relations to see if any groups are forming or, if you want to be an informal organizer, ask GR if you can post an announcement indicating that you are looking for Tai Chi partners.
