Family will be cruising to St thomas in Feb. Anyone know of a cat or sail boat that goes to St john? Trunk bay is where we would like to snorkel. I know we can do this via land but looking to travel on a cat or boat of some sort.

Tried searching the threads and could not find any info.

Thanks.

Time is a factor here. Most sailboats and catamarans will sail from the east end of the island, most likely Sapphire Beach Marina or the Yacht Club at Red Hook. It will take you at least 1/2 hour to get there once leaving the ship. To make the mist if your time, a ship excursion is probably your best bet. We seldom do ship excursions, but St. Thomas is one port where the distance to private boat tours should be considered.

This is exactly why we chose to book the ship's excursion - which is basically just the ferry right from the dock to St John. We did a sail from Red Hook last year, between the taxi fare and traffic, I'd much rather make the trip over right from where we dock. We too never do ship's excursions, but we will be on our own on St John for over four hours and the cost seems fair.

We had the same thought process.

We just did the Scubadu and were on the Adventure of the Seas. Driver picked us up at the pier at 0815 and we were at Red Hook and on the Catamaran by 0845. Joe will tailor the tour to your schedule. We were back at the pier by 3:30 PM.

Our group of 12 had a wonderful day with a cooked meal and all the drinks were included. He does have a minimum fee so keep that in mind but you won't be on a ship sponsored tour packed in like sardines. We avoid the ship sponsored tours if at all possible and have always had great success booking privately.

Another option would be a Sailboat named the Rumbaba. Can't go wrong with Captain Chad either.
