Last year I added $300 in cruise cash to my account before sailing.

I am 92.3% sure that "Cruise Cash" is use it or lose it. If you don't spend it, it will be gone forever.

That is true.

Carnival no longer allows you to just add OBC as they had in prior years. You now have to either purchase Cruise Cash (which as stated prior you need to use all of it or lose it) or you can purchase gift cards, which can be applied once aboard and if not used completely, the remaining amount will be reloaded onto another gift card. I also wanted to put OBC on my account over time, as we did on our last cruise but the rules have changed.

Happy Sailing!!

If it is easier for you to add money via buying cruise cash then do it. Most of the time the interest that you could make is insignificant.

I'm assuming that not unlike us you are only putting in a couple hundred dollars, if you need that for emergencies then you should probably question taking a vacation at all...

I like to add it over time - it gives me a budget to work within. I assume that between the 3 of us that we well spend a minimum of $25 - $30 in drinks a day, if I save more than that via cruise cash then someone gets an extra. I'm not worried about walking away from cruise cash - I haven't yet.

Is it possible to put the balance left in a slot machine on the last day, cash out, and get your cash back at the casino window? This way you would not have to spend it, or buy something you don't really want to keep from losing your money.

Thanks guys.. im just saving money that I wanna use on cruise... drinks, casino etc..

No way would I give Carnival or any other company my money for future use. It's even getting harder to get your own money from a bank nowadays. I invest in Bank Serta.:D

Bank Serta pays the same rates as all the other banks:D.

For me it is not about keeping my money to collect interest, as there is none to collect. It is a matter of keeping my money in my own two grubby paws ;).

How silly it is having to go to the casino to get one's own money back because they would lose it. The gift card, while better because you can at least get the money on a new card for later, doesn't do it for me either-- just another form of holding your money hostage. I charge my cruise and sail and sign account on my American Express which gives me 2 percent back. So if the cruise and expenditures come out to 3500 dollars, I just made 70 dollars for merely charging these expenses. Then when the bill comes due I pay it off so there is no finance charge.

I get the gift cards at least that way if I don't spend it I get it back in another gift card

Are the gift cards still available? I had wanted to get some for my daughters for our cruise in March but didn't see them when I was looking earlier.
