Super Star Virgo

This is such a wonderful board - so much information - thank you to everyone.

I have a query that I don't think has been asked. We are cruising for 7 nights on Virgo 27th June next year. We have been allocated cabin 10578. This is an inter-connecting cabin. Is this a problem - noise wise? Hotel rooms with inter-connecting doors are noisier than others, because the door isn't noise-proofed. As you can tell this will be our first cruise.

We have never had noise problems with inter-connecting cabins. Hope you'll have a great time on Virgo.

We embarked on our cruise on the 4th October on the Virgo:). We booked a Junior Suite and boy is that the way to go, Admiral Class all the way..The kids were in an inside cabin directly across from our room. Once you step on that yellow carpet you are treated as a VIP from start to finish. We arrived and were checked in and on board in the space of 15 mins. It was amazing. We were met by our personal assistant and introduced to our butler Reggie. When we taken to our suite it was incredible. My husband and I had a blue suite with kingsize bed, spa, separate dining and lounge area and balcony. My sister and her husband had the same but their suite was red. My brotherinlaw took loads of photos so will post them when he emails them to me. The kids (12 & 9) enjoyed their view from their faux window (haha). We took advantage whilst on board of their special for laundry a massive bag washed and ironed for $50 (Sing) approx $45 AUD. In one bag i think i had about 50 pieces. We were allocated 4 pieces per day that could be ironed by the butler. Everyday we had towel animals with the masterpiece on our last night being the love swans. With the suite you also got complimentary continental breakfast in your room everyday plus fruit platter. A complimentary bottle of red wine was left on our first day, we still have it as we don't drink red wine. We sort of made our way around ourselves at the stops bar KL. It is a pain in Penang and Phuket as they want to take you to this factory or that factory, but we ended up saying we would give them the price in the fare not to take us. If you have that room you have an escort to help you when you dock to assist you to get taxis and everything. The only tender stop we had was Penang and it was as rough as guts on the way back. We had our gala dinner at the bella vista on the captains table. That was fun. We all loved it and will definitely go back but on a longer one. My son & sister who both suffer from severe motion sickness had no problem with the Virgo at all. :D

  • 2 weeks later...

On past cruises I have seen birthday cakes delivered to a sometimes unsuspecting person complete with 8 or more staff singing and clapping, Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday. This is in Bella Vista and it is a great spectacle, well recieved by the intended table of people plus the whole restaurant.

Does anyone know how these are organised, how much notice is required and what is the cost.

hi this is the first i am going up a cruise.. its on 18th i think :D:D my friends told me that the Mediterranean buffet and chinese restaurant was free of charge. so i was curious and searched for the chinese one. so i see that you need a dress code for it. but it didn't state anything for teenagers like me (15).. So I was wondering if any of you know anything about it? And what are there to do on the cruise for a teenager who hates KTV and can't go gambling with my parents?

Sounds like the Junior suite experience is first class so I might try it on our next cruise in March. Did you have a JS at the back on deck 9 or on deck 10? Also is the balcony a good size as the balcony cabin ones are quite narrow. Did you have the continental breakfast in your suite or go to Bella Vista, or perhaps both!!

We celebrated my Mum's 90th birthday on the Virgo in August. We had lunch in the buffet on this day and advised the guy in charge the day before that we were dining in the buffet for lunch and at what time we would be there. He actually reserved a table for us and the wait staff came out with a mini birthday cake for Mum and sang happy birthday. We had our evening meal in the dining room and over the previous nights got to know the waitstaff. We again let them know the day before that it would be Mum's birthday the following day and once again out came the cake and the singing waiters and waitresses,,,, fantastic. The captain was dining in the dining room on this night and he came over and wished Mum a happy birthday which really made her night. This was all free of charge. You can pre-order a large cake if this is your requirement however this is at a charge. We aren't sweet tooths so the little cake was just fine for us.

Not very often . IIRC sometimes on departure from port; otherwise in case of danger to other vessels only . Only time cruise liners blow the horn continuously is in fog , which one encounters regularly on the Alaskan Inside Passage, but not in the SOM.

Hiya

Can any kind soul here answer me these questions?

-Me and my mother is staying in Ocean viewroom with Balcony, anything to take note of?

-Are the dining credits free (meaning do we still have to pay as long as we don't reach 200?(Penang/Phuket Cruise here))

-Are the show on Lido free? What shows are there now?

Thanks, sorry for the rushed post.
