Port Canaveral to MCO

We are a party of 10 and at the end of our cruise will need to get to MCO for a late afternoon flight. Could you give me any ideas as to what would be the best way of doing this please. Would a taxi be reasonable and large enough for our group and luggage. I've read about shared shuttles - but not 100% sure what these are (we may call them something different here in the UK) and how you go about booking these!!

Some one can probably recommend a company. There are companies that you arrange to shuttle to MCO.

You could try a Google search for "Shuttles from PCO to MCO" or go to

TripAdvisor.com .

Shared shuttles are passenger vans -- people carriers to you, I think  -- carrying up to 8-12 passengers and luggage between MCO and PC. Typical fares start at about $25 per person each way, but with a group of 10 you should qualify for some sort of discount.

The most often suggested providers on these boards are Executive VIP and Cocoa Beach Shuttle. Since it is a 45+ minute drive between PC and MCO you would be looking at a cab fare of $100-150+, and you'd likely need 3 cabs for 10 plus bags (especially if any in your group pack like my wife :o).

A dependable, but als o slower and more expensive option is to purchase transfers from the cruise line, who will use a large bus.

If this is helpful you owe me a pint - I prefer Boddington's! Good luck! :)

I would look into Travelynx (http://www.travelynxusa.com) or Cocoa Beach Shuttle (http://www.cbshuttle.com). Cocoa Beach shuttle gives a 10% discount for mentioning Cruise Critic.

Shared shuttles are mini-buses which either pick up from an area and drop off at a point, or pick up at a point and drop off around an area.

As an example, we (party of 5) got a shared van from San Francisco airport to our hotel, the bus carried 11 people and dropped us all off at hotels in the Market street area, making 4 stops. We paid something like $12 per person which worked out cheaper than a taxi since we would have had to have 2 taxis for the luggage. We used SuperShuttles, but don't know if they will pickup at the port.

The big advantage is the size of the vans....can fit much luggage in!! We don't really have an equivalent car here in the UK, a minibus is about the closest comparison. I have attached a pic so you can see the size. They can hold upto 15 people so 10 + luggage should be OK.

It is also possible to hire the whole van to do a straight trip, so that may be cheaper again...

We used luxtranso.com in January for our family of 8 at a cost of $292 round trip including tip. It's a private 10 passenger van and I believe the coat is per van not per person. We were very satisfied with the service.
