moonraker21 Posted February 23, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted February 23, 2014 so wine packages look like this Available Packages QTY Package Price 5 bottles *122.10 EUR 7 bottles *185.00 EUR 10 bottles *255.30 EUR 12 bottles Sounds expensive if this represents a 25% discount, this means a bottle of wine from the wine list would cost roughly €32 /$43 is that correct?? and buying 2 x 5 bottle packages would be cheaper than 1 x 10 lol. Thanks for posting this, I'm thinking of buying the 12 bottles for a 10 night cruise. My husband likes red and I like white wine. So if you pay for a package, when do you select your wines? Daghis Posted February 23, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2014 I found some pricing for the wine bottles online last year (from this page, and also my pictures of the wine menu in Vintages during our last cruise), and I used it to put together this rough price comparison for the wine packages. So if you pay for a package, when do you select your wines? You select your wines at dinner each night. No pre-selection is required. Any leftover wine from dinner may be taken with you from the restaurant or they'll hold it for you for the next night. You may also request unopened bottles from your package to take with you to your cabin or elsewhere on the ship.

1ParticularHbr Posted February 23, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2014 The Mer Soleil Chardonnay is AMAZING. We discovered it at Vintages on Allure before they had it in the wine package. It's a pricey wine by the bottle and a wonderful addition to the package. They dropped Kendall Jackson and replaced it with the Mer Soleil. I think the last time we had the (5 bottle) wine package we drank 3 bottles of it. The way we looked at it, that made our other two bottles essentially free! Daghis Posted February 23, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Can the wine package be purchased for the same price on the day you board the ship or must it be purchased online? You can purchase the wine package onboard for the same price. The Mer Soleil Chardonnay is AMAZING. We did one of the wine flights in Vintages and I discovered the Mer Soleil Silver Chardonnay. I wish that were also part of the package.
Clarea Posted February 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Can the wine package be purchased for the same price on the day you board the ship or must it be purchased online? You can purchase the wine package in the middle of the cruise too. Since it's not an unlimited package, there's no restriction on when you can purchase or how many people share it. sellwingri Posted February 25, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2014 Thank you so much for this post! I'm bringing a copy of the listing with the per bottle cost vs the package cost so my daughter and I can take full advantage of the pricier wines. nottooshabby Posted March 7, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) Thanks Daghis for the helpful info. Can you purchase the wine package the first night in the MDR? I'm overly paranoid about buying it ahead of time. God forbid a winter storm comes, we miss our flight and don't get on the boat. Do you know if you buy it ahead of time, is it refundable? Daghis Posted March 7, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 7, 2014 Yes, you can purchase it onboard. It doesn't even have to be on the first night. If you do buy it ahead of time and something were to happen and you didn't sail, Royal Caribbean should refund the cost of drink packages including the Wine & Dine Package as they would for things like pre-paid gratuities, shore excursions, port fees, taxes, etc.
