Currency - Southern Caribbean

Sailing Thursday with stops in Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada and Dominica -- what currency do we use in these ports? Can we use US$? I'd try a search....but.....

I'll be on that crusie with you! Yes...you can use US dollars in all the ports.

Using US dollars is not a problem. However, you might find some places will try to give you change in local currency. So if you are owed change, ask them if they can give you change in dollars and they will often comply.

No problem using US Dollars in any of your upcoming ports. :)

Take along small bills (1's, 5's, 10's & 20's).

We have never had a problem with US $ , just be aware that if you get change it may be in Caribbean dollars unless you ask for US .

Our grandchildren have benefited from surplus foreign coinage due to our memory lapses!

All four islands accept US$ readily. Most prices you see on goods will be in US$. All four islands are visited by US tourists on a very regular basis. I assume you are aware that Dominica is not pronounced like the Dominican Republic. They tend to get a bit upset.

We did those ports (& a few others) on the Emerald a little over a year ago. It was great! And really convenient not having to get any foreign currency. We loved all the islands, but have to say that Bonaire had the absolutely clearest water we've ever snorkeled in--amazing!!
