Sun Princess not going to Fiji ?

someone posted this on princess last night

On board the Sun Princess, just sailing away from Port Vila in Vanuatu. Captain came on the PA a short while ago explaining that due to forecasts of "hurricane strength" winds later in the week en route to Fiji, we're being rerouted to miss all four of our scheduled Fiji ports. Instead, we have four new ports in Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

But they will already have been to Vanuatu.

Yes, but they have only been / going to Mystery Island and Vila in Vanuatu and they still have Wala, Champagne Bay and Santo in Vanuatu that they can visit and they also got Lifou and Mare in New Caledonia, which they can go to as well :)

There is currently very heavy rain from a tropical depression that was assessed as being a >50% chance of turning into a cyclone. It is basically over Viti Levu. Having said that the rain has eased somewhat and IMHO doesn't look likely to escalate. There is however still a cyclone alert in place. Most knowledgable locals say rainy until Sunday then back to normal. There has been quite a bit of flooding. Latest forecast says that chance of turning into a cyclone in the next 24-48 hours is moderate to high.

We disembarked from Sea Princess on Thursday after having visited Noumea, Fiji and Vila, and on the way home, experienced some rough seas for a couple of days on our way back to Brisbane. Captain announced that Sun was behind us and unfortunately was forced to cancel Fiji and include other ports due to the possibility of a cyclone.

Pacific Jewel is due in Fiji on Monday. They are currently at Isle of Pines, before going to Vanuatu. Where to go if not Fiji?

Pacific Jewel's bridge cam is reporting that they are heading for Dravuni Island in Fiji. The low depression is reported to have moved to Tonga. Good Luck Jewel passengers. ;)

I can see the wharf from my house and there isn't a ship there. It would be a pity as it is a beautiful day in Suva at the moment. Clear sky and sun shining. The rain and cyclone alert was lifted on Friday.

The Jewel is at Dravuni Island today and due in Suva on Wednesday. Looks to be clear skies and sunny at the Island.;)
