Carnival Freedom back to back -do we have to dbark on turnaround day?

it's a pain. The last day of the cruise you'll get an envelope delivered. You go to the theatre at like 10:15 then they will escort you through customs, you get new keys and then re-board.

Every time we do this it is as if it is the first time Carnival has had back to back cruisers. A couple weeks ago on the Breeze it took an hour and a half but on the Miracle a couple years ago it took 15 minutes. So hopefully you have better luck.

Also, if you're a geek like me and collect the sail and sign cards, they will take those from you and make you pick them up from the purser's desk later that day. I don't understand why we could not just hold onto them ourselves. Again, it will be as if you are the first cruisers ever to do back to back.

From what I gather you make Guest Services aware. Then you meet at a designated point and you are escorted off the ship where you collect your new S & S cards and have your picture taken for it. Once that has been done you are escorted back onboard.

I've done it quite a few times and they never kept the card..

It's really easy and not a pain at all. We did a B2B on the Freedom last summer. We were given a time to meet at guest services. There were a total of 10 B2B'ers. We had to wait until all pax disembarked then were were given our new sign & sail cards. (Our previous weeks cards were taken once we were scanned out). We then escorted through customs and back on this ship. Maybe took a total of 30 minutes max. We were the first ones having lunch that day and got to watch everyone board the ship. The best part was the second week we were treated like royalty by the crew since we befriended many of them the week before.

I can't wait to do another B2B!

Just off the Victory. Our turn around time was 15 minutes. So impressed! There was a total of 8 couples. We were able to keep our cards. We did call Carnival ahead of time and had them link the cruises before hand and told the cabin steward we were staying for the 2nd leg.

Thank you! I did not know you needed to link the cruises together! We are going on our first BTB on the victory next month. I called and after guessing for 10 minutes on my PIN number( remember were you wrote that stupid number down!) She got every thing linked and I am ready to go!!!

does anyone know if we have to disembark after first cruise of a back to back? Is it possible to stay on board? How/where do we collect cruise cards for second cruise?

We are in the same cabin for both cruises.

So many questions! Sorry!

yes--you do embark-----and go through the boarding again---with security, etc. We found it no problem------irene and john--59 cruises on carnival---

We are doing a B2B on the Victory in February, 2015. It was booked through our PVP. The question I have is why do the two need to be linked? They are two separate cruises. You get nothing extra for doing a B2B from Carnival. I know because I wrote to them and they wrote back saying that at this time, they aren't offering anything extra for doing B2Bs. Will someone please explain why they should be linked.

If they are linked, you should get a fruit basket & bottle of champagne (which I switched for white wine) for doing B2B. We've done 3 B2B with 4th one booked for 2015. We've received this gift from the hotel director each time. However, I have heard of others who did not receive anything for B2B. Maybe their reservations weren't linked???

We just did our 3rd B2B on Liberty. On all 3 of our B2Bs, we met in the atrium, used our S & S cards to "check-out", went through customs, and back on the ship with new S & S cards.

We never had to go through security again.

My guess is that the B2B is noted so Carnival knows to send you your notification at the end of the first cruise on where to report to be escorted off the ship. Plus this lets the cabin steward know that you will remain for the next cruise if you have the same cabin. I read here on CC that someone did not link their cruise and came back to the cabin to find out the cabin steward had packed all their belongings and sent them down to guest services. I called to have our cruises linked to avoid any mishaps. It was an easy and quick call.

We also received a bottle of champagne in our room with a note from the hotel director thanking us for doing a B2B. We also received a plate of chocolate covered strawberries from the casino host. Not sure why. I think she liked my husband. She announced to everyone during the slot tournment that he had to dance with her if he lost. He lost but never danced with her.

If you like your table the first night, let the maitred know and he will give you the same table for second cruise. It was so nice to be seated in the MDR and the staff already knew us.

Thank you for replying Sparky. As I said in the other posting, I was told by Carnival that they don't do anything at this time for people who book B2Bs. It's not a big deal, their wine tastes like vinegar to me and we can always get fruit at the buffet if we want some. :)

What if you actually wanted to get off the ship and spend time touring....for example we're doing a B2B in Charleston, or if you were sailing into Manhattan? I'm hoping that you could debark earlier rather than later, with your new cards in hand. Has anyone ever done this?

I've never done it but you get these little "in transit" tickets that should let you back onboard, with your new sail and sign card of course. What I don't know and would like to know is if you have to wait until they begin boarding again to get back on. So say you leave at 10:15 just to go get something or put something in your car and want to get right back on, do you have to wait until 11ish or will that in transit card pass you right through to get back on the ship.

I wondered that too. Presuming that it's a nice day, we'd probably like to get off on the early side and spend the day walking around Charleston. If it's not a nice day however, we'll be reloading on tonic and soda at Harris Teeter and looking to re-board.

You do have to debark. If you don't want to spend time in the port city, you wait until everyone else if off the ship. Someone will escort you off, all the way through the immigration and customs check, and then immediately back on the ship. You'll have a bit of time with the ship all to yourself. You won't need to carry anything with you except your identification documents.

You'll be given a pass that will allow you to re-board anytime after boarding has started if you do choose to tour the port city instead.
