Vision of the Seas vs Celebrity Constellation

Recommended Posts

Cannot decide which one to book.

I am a cigar smoker so the fact that the Constellation has a cigar lounge is attractive to me. does anyone know if Cigar smoking is allowed in the designated areas in the Vision?

I have read that entertainment is better in Royal than Celebrity.

Can anyone comment on their experiences

Thanks

I'm not sure about the cigar smoking, but if you don't have kids I would go with Celebrity. It is more adult oriented, and it has the cigar bar you want. With X, you are going to get a more sophisticated experience, i.e. no sexy legs contest.

I haven't heard much about Celebrity entertainment.

Food is supposed to be a noch above RC.

Hope this helps!!!

They removed the cigar lounge from the Vision, it used to be in the library each night, but that area has been converted into cabins. It's a real shame, that was a very nice place to enjoy a stogie.

Now you'll have to go up on the starboard side of the pool deck. It's okay, but certainly not as nice as having a comfortable lounge. Unfortunately that is a trend that seems to be going fleet-wide. Only the Freedom Class ships and some of the Voyager Class ships still have dedicated cigar lounges.

I haven't been on enough X cruises to help with the entertainment question.

Celebrity Constellation is a beautiful ship and I love cruising with Celebrity. Definitely a little more "refined" than RCL, no music round the pools for example. Food is excellent, entertainment is lower key but still pretty good and fewer children on board generally.

If you haven't sailed them yet I think you would enjoy the experience.

I would also suggest Celebrity over RC. We spent 21 nights on Legend (Vision's sister ship). We have also sailed on Millennium on Celebrity. You can smoke on the port side outdoor areas on RC. On Celebrity, they have an actual Cigar Bar to smoke in. Also, the food on Celebrity is definitely a step above RC. I think you will be happy on Celebrity . . . give it a try!

Cigar bar on Celebrity? Celebrity has the most restrictive smoking policy of the major lines. The only place you can smoke cigars is the port side of the aft, outside, sunset bar.

I don't see anything on the current deck plans, the FAQ on their site says:

Q. What is the onboard smoking policy? For your comfort and enjoyment, our ships are designated as non-smoking; however, we recognize that some of our guests smoke. Therefore, cigarette, cigar and pipe smoking is permitted in designated outdoor areas of the ship. Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, casino, theater, lounge, hallway, elevator, or corridor. This policy includes smoking-like products such as electronic cigarettes. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom, nor on any stateroom veranda. If you are in violation of this policy, a cleaning fee of $250 USD will be applied to your SeaPass® account and you may be subject to further action pursuant to the "Consequences Section" of the Guest Conduct Policy. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard. Additionally, there is a non-smoking policy on all components of the land tour portion of all Celebrity Cruises Cruisetour products. We appreciate your understanding and adherence.

The Constellation is a nice ship however; if something goes wrong, like with the Adventure of the Seas, which cruise line would you rather be on?

I have been on both, on the December 16 Constellation 5 night Mexico cruise; we had a propulsion problem that kept us stranded for two days at the Key West Navel Yard. We never made it to Cozumel and were never offered ANY compensation whatever. No apologies, NO Nothing, from Celebrity Corporate.

Today, March 26, cruisecritic reported that RCCL was giving the passengers aboard Adventure of the Seas a full refund and a 50% off voucher; for their cruise troubles due to the ships propulsion problems.

As I told a corporate representative of Celebrity today, this is why I did not book a Celebrity crossing for 2015 and instead booked on the Crystal Serenity, instead!!!

Even though Celebrity is owned by Royal Caribbean International, does not mean that you as a passenger, will be treated the same.

The same/similar events, completely different outcomes. I was told today, the decision not to compensate the passengers in anyway, came directly from the CEO of Celebrity Michael Baily.

Based on my personal experience, I strongly recommend experienced RCCL cruisers, to seriously consider other options, including remaining loyal to Royal and not its sister companies!!!
