Food on Ruby Princess

Depends on who's doing the cooking...really!

We were on the Island followed by the Ruby a few years ago. Menu items we really enjoyed on the Island didn't taste at all the same on the Ruby. Food onboard the Ruby was quiet disappointing based on what we enjoyed on the Island.

There will be a completely different crew onboard the Ruby if and when you cruise, so my comparison really has no bearing. My point is that menu items can vary greatly from ship to ship.

I thought the food was very good on the Ruby last week. I ordered the fish entree most nights. The only disappointing one was the mahi crusted with panko and macadamia nuts. It was like a big fish stick. It was better once I pushed the crust off to the side.

Thanks for your responses. I am looking forward to the cruise. We were on the Emerald last year and with the exception of Crown Grill and Sabatini's , we didn't find the food as good as on previous Princess cruises. As the first poster stated, I guess it depends on who's cooking. Glad to hear the positives about the Ruby.

Here are my thoughts from the Christmas cruise:

Buffet - better at breakfast than lunch

MDR - pretty good most nights and breakfast was good.

Pizza at the pool - very good - that station doubles as a waffle stand for breakfast and they looked good but did not try

Steak House - disappointing to say the least - mainly because they were understaffed. I also heard from other diners that they had good experiences, so...

never got to any of the other venues...just a 4 day cruise
