Boston Amtrak South Station late evening arrival

We are arriving the night before our Oct. 24 cruise via Amtrak. Arrival is 9pm so we are looking for relatively (under $200) inexpensive hotel nearby. Since its just a place to rest our heads we dont require anything fancy, only clean and safe.

On a side note does anyone know if taxis are readily available at that station in the evening?

Taxis are available at South Station just about any time of the day. I'm sure 138East will post up here with usually very good hotel suggestions.

Don't laugh but have a look at the YMCA! Seriously though, the building houses a theatre and Hotel 140 as well as the YMCA. We stayed there several years ago and were pleasantly surprised at the place. If I remember correctly breakfast was included and the comment was made by one of the diners that it was very popular with people on their way to work.

I'm seeing our favorite Hotwire Waterfront hotel for $197 plus tax for Oct 23. This is highly likely to be the Westin Waterfront. If not, it can only be the Seaport or Renaissance.

 

This is a quick cab ride from South Station for under $10 and another quick cab ride to the pier the following morning. It will be more than $200, but you will save a bit of cab money because the hotel is almost exactly between South Station and the pier. If you can manage your luggage, the Silver Line bus can take you within a block of the hotel and also from the hotel to directly in front of the pier.
