shelpt Posted April 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Hi, We will be staying at the Courtyard Fort Lauderdal Beach in May. There are 6 of us. Can someone make some recommendations regarding shuttle services to get to the hotel? Or does anyone know if we can just grab a taxi (obviously a larger one) right outside the ariport? Any ideas on what this would cost? I then need to get from the hotel to the port in the morning if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help! royalcruz Posted April 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2014 A regular taxi would cost about $20. I'm not sure if there is a different charge for a larger taxi.

Hotel to cruise port would be about $12-$14 by taxi.
cat maran Posted April 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2014 We love Courtyard Ft Lauderdale Beach! Ask for a corner room and eat at Coconuts across the street for a real treat. We just did this in March. $20 taxi from airport, but more for a larger group (about $30-35 for a van). It is not as close to the port as some of the other hotels - we paid $18 plus tip for 2 of us in a regular size taxi. Taxis run the meter and getting into the port and dropping off can take time. shelpt Posted April 12, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted April 12, 2014 Good to know. We are marriott members and since we get in early the day before we cruise, thought it would be fun to stay beachfront. Maybe a shuutle to the port would be cheaper??? Anyone have suggestions? Thanks

Anyone have suggestions? Thanks Cheaper than by taxi? Seriously? Remember the shuttle will charge by the person. So two $18 taxis (3 per taxi) are more expensive than 6 people x $10 per person (cheap shuttle rate)? royalcruz Posted April 12, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Courtyard is only 2.1 miles from the port entrance, and it's one of the closest beach hotels to the port. Seriously, if all 4 traffic lights are green and the drawbridge is down, you'll be entering the port in less than 5 minutes. Seriously, if all 4 traffic lights are green and the drawbridge is down, you'll be entering the port in less than 5 minutes. And the bridge opens on the hour and half hour so time your departure from the hotel to miss the opening (otherwise you can be sitting there for 5 minutes or more)! Patsfan3 Posted April 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2014 we are staying at the Hyatt Place dania beach. what is the cheapest way to get to port Everglades? eandj Posted April 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Once you hit 2-3 people you will be paying more for shuttle service than cab. Order a suv cab or take two cabs. Edited April 13, 2014 by eandj

I doubt two taxis will cost you more than $35, probably less.

Patsfan3 Posted April 14, 2014 #13 Share Posted April 14, 2014 Thank you all for your help. We get in late the night before the cruise, wondering if I should call a company before we fly down or the morning of the cruise? any Ft Lauderdale/dania beach locals can suggest a good company to call. JohninDC Posted April 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted April 14, 2014 Just ask the hotel front desk to call a cab for you - they will know who to call.

Unless you are a solo cruiser or getting a free shuttle to the port, a cab always makes more sense. Even for people in the above situations who just want the convenience of jumping in one and getting dropped off . . . they take cabs. Hotel will call a cab for you. If it's on a day when the Allure/Oasis or a lot of ships are in port . . . there will probably be one outside of your hotel waiting for cruisers. Still the wait won't be more than 5 or 10 minutes . . . probably less.
