Tiggertastic Posted April 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Anyone else received this email from captains club? 'We hope you enjoyed your last holiday with us and we would like to thank you for booking your next cruise whilst on board. To provide some inspiration on where to travel next, we have highlighted some of our favourite destinations below. Plus, the fantastic incentives you receive for booking on board are combinable with our current offers To take advantage, please call our Personal Cruise Specialist on 0844 481 7510 or contact your local travel agent before 30 April 2014*. We hope to see you on board soon. The Captain's Club Team' It then lists 2 offers - the choose and cruise 2014/2015 - beverage or OBC and also the onboard spend and cruise 2015/2016 promotion. Both to be booked before the 30th April. Rang celebrity to book and been told that they've never heard of this offer, been told 'it's really misleading'. Also said they don't have any offers for 2015 out yet - pointed out both are 2015 and one is 2016 then told me 'Sorry can't help' Has anyone else got this, managed to book with this offer? Or is it another case of the right and left hand not knowing what is going on. Any tips please - thanks Edited April 11, 2014 by Tiggertastic
rjg41 Posted April 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) Look very carefully as to what is the sending e-mail address. Could be from a travel agent(they are allowed to use the Celebrity logo) or maybe even a scam. The sending e-mail should help you find you who it is and what it means. Lotus Girl Posted April 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2014 (edited) I received the same email on Wednesday. It started: Dear Karen We hope you enjoyed your last holiday with us and we would like to thank you for booking your next cruise whilst on board. To provided some inspiration on where to travel next, we have highlighted some of our favourite destinations below. Plus, the fantastic incentives you receive for booking on board are combinable with our current offers To take advantage, please call our Personal Cruise Specialist on 0844 481 7510 or contact your local travel agent before 30 April 2014*. We hope to see you on board soon. The Captain's Club Team The email address that it came from was: celebritycruises@mail.celebritycruises.co.uk I did not book a cruise whilst on board the last time, I did buy a future cruise certificate though and note that there are typing errors in the opening paragraph of the email! In keeping with RCCL website errors, I received an email from Royal Caribbean cruises yesterday and it advised that Splendour of the Seas was sailing from Dubai in December 2015 - April 2016 and they had a click here button to book! When I clicked on the button, the sailing wasn't even loaded on to the website! We all know that they have IT issues! However, Celebrity does, indeed, have perks offered for 2015. We booked Equinox for February 2015 and received our choice of the 1-2-3 promo. Tiggertastic Posted April 15, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Did you book a cruise whilst on board? Yes we booked 2 whilst onboard I received the same email on Wednesday. Got a response from celebrity saying they did issue the email but nobody in the office is aware of the offer. They believe it'misleading and really suggests to contact to see if anything can be added to an existing booking. Even though the deal on board is better than anything the UK offers. I did call the number and it is direct to celebrity pcc. Rather a bit of false advertising going on again. I think we will stick to booking on board for the best offers. Project_gal Posted April 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Jan There has been a lot of disruption in the UK Celebrity office recently. Most of the 084..... numbrs have changed. Many I have used in the past no longer work. I spoke to our PCS a week ago on Saturday [just before the start of the boat race] and they were in the process at that time of routing the phone lines to Guatamala [sp?] - presumable those for Royal Caribbean and Azamara and the parts of Celebrity going offshore. Our PCS [who has worked there sine the office was openned - and possibly others as well] is leaving at the end of next week. Much disruption and much unhappiness. I think the UK office will be left with inexperienced staff. Because he is leaving, our PCS was on leave when the 2015/16 Caribbean cruises were release and he passed our details to a colleague so that he could contact us as soon as the itineraries were openned. The name seemed as though it may have been South American but I thought nothing of it until we were not contacted. I knew from Cruise Critic that the cruises had been released. I rang the main number and booked our cruise. So I was happy. Then, I got up the next day to an email from the guy who was supposed to be looking after us. It said that he was now in work but could see that we had already booked. The email was sent late in the day UK time but probably morning in South America. I had understood that Celebrity was not being moved to the call centre in South America - just Royal Caribbean and Azamara. Is it possible that this is not so? Having said that, it has always been par for the course that the UK office is not informed about what is happening. I think that, at present, many are probably not as inclined as they once would have been to find out for you. Not sure that I have been much help to you but, at least, I have been able to have my rant!
Barry Shaw Posted April 15, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Celebrity really has to get its act together! There phone and online customer service is the worst I have ever experienced by a cruiseline, or any other company for that matter. They play that damned recorded robot message where they tell you to wait 13 minutes when the wait time is longer than half an hour. believe me, I know what I am saying, I tired ti several times - at international direct dialling rates! I left messages online to which they failed to respond, apart from the standard impersonal message that they had received my message. That's it. Totally zero response to my complaints beyond that. Celebrity has gone down in my estimation. With 2 upcoming cruises with them this year they had better be fault free or we will be looking elsewhere for our 2015 cruises and beyond. Their staff consists of staff members from the previous tri-branded set up. Unfortunately some of them are being made redundant such as your personal cruise specialist.
