Caribbeanqueen03 Posted April 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Was wondering if can take a wine bottle opener on Pride in my checked luggage? Have you all had any issue? Don't want to pay someone to open!

Mscruiser53 Posted April 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Always have a corkscrew in my bag. No problems so far. My husband has a small plastic hotel freebie one in his dop kit. Just in case LOL.

Georgiagolfer Posted April 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 15, 2014 I always carry 1 in my checked luggage if flying to Port. If driving, I take in carry on luggage. Never had any issues with Security.

Caronrick Posted April 15, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Your cabin steward can get you one onboard. I beg to differ. I forgot to pack mine and tried to get one from our steward.. she basically said we were S.O.L. unless we took it to the bars or dining room. Then I discoverd that they were screw top and it wasn't even an issue after all..

Don't want to pay someone to open! Our corkscrew travels in our toiletries bag of our check luggage--never had a problem and I sail the Pride often. Caronrick Posted April 15, 2014 #15 Share Posted April 15, 2014 I have asked for and received one from my steward multiple times. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm saying don't count on it because there are stewards out there that will not provide one when asked. :)

I'm saying don't count on it because there are stewards out there that will not provide one when asked. :) Yep. I've always been able to get a corkscrew from the room steward in the past when I've forgotten to pack one, but 2 weeks ago on the Miracle I couldn't. My steward told me we had to call room service and have them bring us one. Luckily, room service delivered it much faster than they do the food. :D Oh, and we weren't allowed to keep it - had to open our wine while she waited and then give it back. And yes, it was one of the cheap, portable ones they used to give you for free. And yes, we tipped her. :)
spsweet311 Posted April 15, 2014 #17 Share Posted April 15, 2014 Do you need to consume your wine either in your room or a restaurant? Or can you bring it to a bar as well?

In my experience, you can bring it anywhere. We took mine to the lobby bar one night to sit and listen to our favorite guitar guy for a while. And I also classed up the casino when I took my bottle of champagne there one day. :D No one cared at all. I carry a Carnival one in my toiletries that they gave me a few cruises back! Excellent idea! I think I'm going to go throw one in my makeup bag right now. :)
Lerin Posted April 16, 2014 #20 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Sorry, but I am picky. You can tell how little someone knows about wine by how they respond to the concept of a screw top. We have a small corkscrew in our toiletry bag that we take on all vacations. Or we bring screw tops. ;)
ccruisequeen Posted April 16, 2014 #21 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Do you need to consume your wine either in your room or a restaurant? Or can you bring it to a bar as well? My parents take theirs to dinner. Then when the bar staff come to ask if they want something with dinner, my parents show them the glasses and say they just came from a bar. pamn40 Posted May 13, 2014 #23 Share Posted May 13, 2014 I prefer a "box" of wine, no corkscrew needed. Carnival let me bring a 3 liter box on ship for two adults. It just fit in the small fridge by taking the bag (liner) out of the box. Happy Sailing!
