Attention carnival miracle alaska and hawaii 2014 cruisers

Okay, 2 questions:

1. The detailed route info that John Heald posted - can someone experienced in maritime routing tell me if that means the ship is sailing East of Vancouver Island either northbound or southbound?

2. I'm confused about this 25% discount on a future cruise. If I book a cruise, it's only 25% off the first person in the cabin? If there are two of us, the 2nd person pays full price? I am traveling to Alaska with my family; 4 people in a cabin. I thought if I booked another cruise for the 4 of us, I'd get 25% off the total cabin price for all of us. Is that not true?

Thanks everyone!

You are correct about the discount. All 4 sail then all 4 get:) the 25% off a future cruise, but only on the cruise fare, not the taxes, gratuities, or insurance.

  • 1 month later...

Ok, we returned from Alaska cruise on May 27th. It was beautiful weather the entire drive to Seattle. If you can, don't miss an opportunity to drive I-90 from Sioux Falls, SD to Seattle at point in your lifetime. Amazing landscape & terrain. We only drove during the day and stopped at most photo ops. Yes, even Wall Drugs. Even Seattle had blue sunny skies both days. Had sandwich and salad at local Jimmy John's near hotel. The cashier said for us to enjoy the orange orb (sun), so the locals know it don't happen often. Got great photos at Kerry Park in Queen Anne district. GPS assist is recommended.

We almost left one couple in Juneau, the side rails were down and forklift was ready to lift gangway. As John H said, we seen many amazing animals in Juneau and now we see the Pier Runners. Nine were missing at departure time, 7 were on board 15m later, the last two were 30-35m late. LOL running with shopping bags in both hands.

Weather was unseasonably warmer than usual, the whale watching skipper was wearing open toe sandals. We went down to three layers and had hoodie unzipped every tour. The Victoria Bushardt gardens were disappointing, too early in the season. Keep that in mind if you go. $55 taxi ride, shared with dinner table couple, took public bus back.

Booked next cruise in Skagway. Has anyone tried the 25% discount on next cruise?

I heard one lady complain about how they do the 25% discount. They apply it at your first booking. Then if there are price drops, they no longer apply the 25% off, so in the end you may lose the 25% discount altogether and just get the same fare as other people without the discount.

We are talking the Alaskan route....Not Hawaii.

Isn't the thread titled "Attention Carnival Miracle Alaska and Hawaii 2014 Cruisers?" Regardless, it's the same ship and it has to sail to Hawaii before Carnival will be able to provide proper maintenance and repair the issues the ship is currently experiencing. Yes, this will affect the guest experience on a Hawaiian cruise.

Friends were on the April Hawaii cruise when this announcement was made. They had no inkling that the ship was having issues and their cruise made all ports on time.

Interesting point, I'll post when I see my first price drop on next cruise. I did try for 25% discount last nite and the website froze. Could have been down for maintenance. Will try again later today. yard work needs attention after 17 days.

This was DW and I first Alaskan cruise, so we can't compare. But I will admit I was skeptical about AK being awesome because you never heard anyone say otherwise. So I was up at 530am (sunrise) draining the tank as the Miracle was going into Tracy Arm. Looked out the balcony door and saw the snow covered mountains, a little haze and blue, blue, blue skies. Threw on jeans and sweatshirt w/ flip flops and started taking photos. Wife knocked on door and asked if I drank the Alaskan kool-aid last nite. LOL Her way of saying . . .

Anyhow, weather was mild, we eliminated one layer and had the hoodie unzipped almost always. Zero rain, whale watching (H&M) skipper was wearing open sandals. Wildlife seemed slim, but we did see a whale lunge feeding on its side and another dive feeding, so I got photos of both. Bald eagles on channel marker, sea loins sunbathing on different marker, no bear on any tour. Did Tracy Arm explorer boat tour. Got within a 100 yards to glaciers, saw several bergs calving, got speed photos of a couple doing so. The blue of the glaciers can't compare to the blue in photos and I got good equipment. Still awesome. Did the bus up to Yukon and train back tour. Very enjoyable, bus driver was knowledgeable and pulled over for most photo ops locations. the sled dog camp was cool, but the sled ride is flakey. No snow so the sled is an aluminum cart on wheels, rides 6 people on sled. Glad we didn't opt for it.

I think the 5% reduction in propulsion speed is a precaution measure by CCL. And we didn't mind losing Ketichan. Enjoy your August trip, we did on ours.

I've attempted to apply for my 25% discount on my April 2015 cruise 5 times with no success. Used both Firefox and IE for browsers, so I'll have to call to accomplish. Will update as this progresses.

You are not able to use your 25% discount until you have completed the affected cruise.

Wasn't the affected cruise last month?

Bill

I mean, the cruise that you are going on that has been affected by the technical issues. You have to go on the cruise you booked before you get your 25% discount on a future cruise.

Oh OK I am confused.

I thought the 25% off was for the affected Miracle sailings which fastrock was on in May 2014.

So shouldn't fastrock be able to apply the discount to his Liberty cruise in 2015 since he already went on the affected cruise?

Ahhh...I guess I missed the fact that he has already sailed on the 1-port-short cruise. I would say call your personal vacation planner and have them do it. I always have a great expereience with them and you are sure to get your booking just how you want it.

TXAlex, I'll can the PVP tomorrow. Jeff on the Miracle cruise desk was of the opinion that we will get the 25% off the cruise cost including the deposit. So we get 25% off the $600 deposit also.
