Bo59rt Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Came off of the Valor for our honeymoon last week and had woodford reserve bourbon and fireball as new drink options on the ship. I know that it is not on all the ships because we did the liberty the week before. I'm guessing they are doing a test run since the bourbon was not listed on any of the menus. I was very happy to see my drink of choice on the ship. Its about time they got a higher end bourbon! :D
Dixie24 Posted April 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I hope they have it on the Triumph! I noticed on the Library Bar (on Sunshine and Breeze I think) menu on Carnival.com that they had both Woodford Reserve and Booker's. $7.50 for Woodford and $8.50 for Booker's which are great prices even on land. Rare crewsweeper Posted April 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Wasn't on the Sensation last week. But certainly will look for either of those bourbons on a ship in the future. BTW, Booker Noe told me years ago that he added 3 fingers of spring water to every finger of Bookers when he poured. Sorta like doing the tiny splash of water in your neat single malt. Different drink altogether.:)

rch3 Posted April 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Now, if they'd just step up on the single malts. Macallan was a good first baby step. How about some Oban, or even Laphroaig?

Stone Rosey Posted April 18, 2014 #11 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Yes, mix Fireball with Cherry 7-up, and it tastes just like Big Red gum
Bo59rt Posted April 18, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted April 18, 2014 When they added angry orchard to the menu I was waiting for fireball to come on the ships. Mixing them makes a good drink too. When I ordered the woodford I was waiting for the receipt to see how much it was going to cost, $7.50 is cheap in my book. Then again in my area when you ask for it on the rocks they never measure out an exact pour like they do on the ship.
Bo59rt Posted April 18, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted April 18, 2014 and you should have seen the looks I got when I asked for it, not one server knew it was at the bars, I had bartenders look at me like I was crazy until I pointed at the bottle behind them. I had to write down what I wanted one night on the servers receipt pad in the casino because she had no idea what I was asking for.

I had a nice Bowmore on the Sensation last week. They also had Ardbeg, although I'm not a fan. But I agree a stepped up selection might be nice. It's a space-to-sales management issue on a ship though. How many 3/4 filled bottles can you keep on the bar shelf when you're limited in how many bottles the shelf can hold and you're primarily selling the mass-produced mixing liquors, in fru-fru drinks and ersatz mixologies? Ohhh...thanks for the info...hmmm..well must be tasty..I love cinnamon but maybe more with honey for ..well it is new regime i am on... raw ceylon cin. and raw honey in boiling water not microwaved... has to be these types and quality for several health things... but this sounds like fun for a different drink.:) PS I bet with honey and hot water would make a great "hot" drink and pardon the pun back...smiles...sarah Edited April 19, 2014 by sjn911

It is soo smooth and definitely better to me than Maker's mark and a couple other fancy ones I have had...someone introduced it to me...now that I can't have a drink very often..when i do I want it perfect or skip it..It is so lovely..I love the bottle too... It's what I use for my Mint Juleps on Derby Day. I also use to work for Booker's than I switched to drinking Basil Hayden's. :D According to the snobs you have to use Blounton for the official mint julip of the Derby. I think most of them wouldn't know what you gave them. You could probably give them Jack and they wouldn't know the difference. Bought a bottle of Kirkland Bourbon from Costco when in FL for $19. The bottle resembled Knob Creek but the $19 price is what it is worth, no bargain not even at that price. 🌅🚢🇺🇸

Kirkland brands are usually darn good, but this bourbon is almost undrinkable. I poured mine into an old bottle of Jack Black and I will use it late in a party when someone wants a Jack and Coke. I drink Woodford on the rocks and quite frankly I am so spoiled even Single Barrel Jack straight up tastes like rock gut after Woodford.
