suni Posted April 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Do you think it is safe to travel on this itinerary? I am so excited about this trip, but with the unrest in the area, I am unsure what to do. Appreciate your input.

orchestrapal Posted April 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2014 If it's not safe at the time the ship won't go to the unsafe area. Right now the question is not safety.
pacheco18 Posted April 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2014 I would not hesitate (but I just came back from Egypt). It's a great itinerary. Go and enjoy!
buggins0402 Posted April 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) The same topic was discussed on the Port Board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2024606 Cruisemom42's comment was very good. suni Posted April 19, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Thank you. I am going to just go with the flow and trust that should the situation become questionable, Oceania will adjust.
Mura Posted April 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2014 A little late to the discussion, but I wouldn't worry about safety in the Baltic. I suppose it's always possible that locals would be hostile to the U.S. under the current circumstances but I for one wouldn't worry about that. Especially if you are on a private tour (or even an O tour). I wouldn't advise doing the Black Sea itinerary at this time, however! We loved it two years ago ... but that was two years ago. Perhaps the bigger issue is if you want to give support to Russia by going there at this time. Some people say they don't care, others say they won't go. That's YOUR choice. Mura P.S. Mura is a Russian name. My Jewish grandparents left the Ukraine i9fter a big pogrom around 1907-1908 ... so I have my own biases. I won't go anywhere in Russia these days, but it isn't because I am afraid to do so.
RJB Posted April 22, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Does not seem to be unrest in any of the places that you are going. Great trip. Go for it. :):)
