KPfromCT Posted May 2, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2014 We are going to be in Grand Turk in July. DH decides last night, that he would like to try the FlowRider:eek: I read the reviews on CCL website, and it was all about the KIDS. He is 42. He is in great physical shape, but I can't help but wonder....... Any older folks try it? I just don't want him to break something, on the 2nd day of our cruise:eek: Yup. I'm selfish like that:rolleyes: Thoughts?
gracie65 Posted May 2, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2014 My husband is 43 and did it and he's not in the best shape!! Lol he had fun was a bit sore the next day but he would do it again! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gtalum Posted May 2, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2014 They advertise it for kids because that's who is usually interested in it, but there' sno reason an adult can't do it. He should try it and I bet he'll have fun.
Fitzget Posted May 2, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) It's definitely for his age as well. I have not done the one in Grand Turk, but on RCI Ships and in other places, people of all ages use them. Not just for kids. mgriffus Posted May 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2014 I am 45, pleasantly plump and did the flow rider last August. Had an absolute blast. I actually stayed on the board pretty well. Maybe being plump has its advantages

kona_wahine Posted May 2, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 2, 2014 (edited) Can you more "adult" people tell me how it was? Fun? Did you get a face full of water? Lose a bathing suit top? :D it interest me and would like to know what it's like. We were there in January and didn't see anyone ride it. Laurie S. Posted May 3, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 3, 2014 When I did it, they had us start by kneeling on the board. From there, we progressed to standing with one of the guys holding both our hands. As a person got their balance, the trainer would let go of one hand, and eventually, the other hand. I wiped out three times before I was able to ride it from one side of the wave flow to the other. One young kid never managed it, one guy did it, and a younger woman did it. About six others never got it. For a woman, it's best to wear a one-piece suit with a t-shirt over it. I have several pictures of me riding, and wiping out, but can't post them until tomorrow night when I'm back home.
