esimon Posted May 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Interesting and/or curious to me how few Oosterdam posts on this site.
Rare POA1 Posted May 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2014 It's probably a function of the ship's being in the Australian market all winter.
nana51 Posted May 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2014 The Alaska season has started and the big "O" will be sailing there. I love her.
grsnovi Posted May 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2014 We've sailed on the O several times in Alaska and in Mexico. Loved it each time. On several of the cruises we had familiar faces in the wait staff. The ship is well kept (IMHO) and I happily look forward to going back to Alaska on her again! We're going out again on Eurodam this fall - essentially the same deck plans as the O but with one more deck and an interesting spin on a second fancy reservation restaurant: The Tamerind. If you have specific questions about the O, ask and I'm certain that enough of us will provide opinions!
Typhoon1 Posted May 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Sailed her once, wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
Krazy Kruizers Posted May 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2014 When she sailed the Mexican itinerary all the time during the winter months, there were many reviews about it. And all were good ones. But doing the Australian market, not so many reviews about her. We sailed on her many years ago when she was first in the Caribbean and loved her. solocanadian Posted May 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 4, 2014 (edited) Oosterdam just arrived this week for her Alaska season. We loved our cruise on her and I'd love to sail her again. Dob't think she's here yet. She's between Hawaii and Seattle. I know she will be in Seattle on May 10th. Our CC RuthC is on her. I'm sure hoping she gets outfitted for Dive-In while in Seattle I mean the ship - not Ruth.:) Edited May 4, 2014 by solocanadian

gigianne Posted May 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 4, 2014 I hope Ruth posts about her O cruise experience. We are doing a 36 day next April and I believe once the O is north - the Noordam is going south so it looks like we will be seeing more of the O in 2015+
rikig1969 Posted May 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Hi! My partner and I will be doing the Oosterdam for the overnight Seattle to Vancouver cruise. This will be our first time on Holland America, and thought this would be a good way to try it out. From what I can see, this is a great ship. On the overnight cruise, does the casino open? cruz chic Posted May 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Are Noordam and Oosterdam swapping itineraries?I think I heard that? Yes they are according to info I heard on the Westerdam. No big specifics, just that. Sure would love to see the Oosterdam doing the Mexican riviera run but I think it's more likely that I'll be the captain. I assume the Oosterdam will be doing the Caribbean
sail7seas Posted May 4, 2014 #15 Share Posted May 4, 2014 This is for 2015 season? Yes... I heard OSDM would be doing Caribbean from Port Everglades..... If that is true?

Rare POA1 Posted May 4, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Are Noordam and Oosterdam swapping itineraries?I think I heard that? That's my understanding as well. Noordam to Australia, Oosterdam back to the Caribbean. We always liked the Oosterdam. The Zuiderdam was a little over the top at launch, and she suffered from some 'first in a new class' rough spots. The Oosterdam was a much more finished product, if you will.

Wastegirl Posted May 5, 2014 #19 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Just got off her for the last time a few weeks ago, was quite sad but nevertheless looking forward to the Noordam coming down under. Had a wonderful time, ship was in usual good condition, staff wonderful and the weather was perfect (not always so in the South Pacific in March). Add that to a well priced upsell to a Signature suite it was a fitting goodbye to a ship that we have enjoyed 3 times now. I mentioned to a couple of staff about the 'switcharoo' with the Noordam and they hadn't heard anything about it. They were quite excited about the idea though as the Oosterdam has been here for a few years so this gives them a change of scenery.

The last time i was on the sapphire princess i said that ship was going to asia and that person told me i was wrong. The ship is now in asia. Ive had one cruise on the noordam and it was so so but the ship is loved. All my cruises on the oosterdam have been great.
