Yes, tragic indeed. I too heard from onboard yesterday but thought I would wait until the news appeared in more official channels. I understand Azamara also helped out the Coastguard with their diving infrastructure to help.

It makes us think, we worry about the brand of soda when elsewhere in the world...........................

Azamara Club Cruises Statement



May 5, 2014

 

On Sunday, May 4, 2014, Azamara Journeyassisted the Greek Coast Guard in a rescue and recovery effort for boat that had capsized off the coast of Greece. Azamara Journey lowered two rescue boats into the water and aided in the operation for more than three hours. At the time, Azamara Journey was sailing from Patmos, Greece, to Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey.

 

We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of all the individuals involved in this terrible incident.

 

Azamara Journey departed Athens (Piraeus), Greece, on Friday, May 2, and its 10-night itinerary includes port calls to Paros, Patmos and Rhodes, Greece; Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey; Paphos, Cyrus; Jerusalem (Ashdod) and Haifa, Israel.

Thanks for posting. Heard the sad news last night.

 

Thank you to Captain Tysse, and the wonderful Officers and Crew on Journey for their valiant efforts. My sincere condolences to those who perished, and their families, in this tragic incident.

yes, Captain Tysse continues to show his wonderful character in helping with this rescue. It must have been quite sobering for everyone on board. I pray that they are all taking care and that the ones on the sinking boat are safe. I will be on the Journey in a few days and will make sure that I give him more kudos.
