Fairlanecruiser66 Posted May 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) Trying to select a starboard balcony cabin on Solstice. Are the veranda balconies all covered, what about the ones that have a angled balcony to the aft? Our itinerary is Seattle, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm, Juneau, Skagway, Inside Passage, Victoria. Is the Starboard side the best? Edited May 11, 2014 by Fairlanecruiser66
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted May 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) Welcome to Cruise Critic! I can't answer as to whether all the balconies are covered. The 1A balconies on the slant of the hump are. The aft balconies are not. Can't speak to the other ones, haven't sailed in them. Starboard vs. port is a personal decision. You'll be facing land on the way up, but much of the time too far out at sea. Coming back through the inside passage, you'll have land on both sides. Smoking is permitted in an area on deck 5 port, so many try to avoid port balconies. Edited May 11, 2014 by Happy Cruiser 6143
TeaBag Posted May 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2014 We just left #7290 (1A) on Solstice. Yes it was covered and there was very little sun. The life boats obscure your view of the water when looking straight down, but we still enjoyed it very much. It is quite large. If it is raining while you cruise Alaska you might appreciate the covering. Welcome to Cruise Critic. Look at the Sticky on Solstice class cabins at the top of the threads and you should be able to choose a cabin to your liking based on the descriptions given there.
