AK Dreaming Posted May 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Traveling on the Golden to Alaska the first week of June. Just a few questions. Can we bring a flat iron for our hair? What nights are generally the formal nights? Sea days or port days? Any cannot miss excursions? Our major wish list include bears, waterfalls and glaciers. Thank u for any help or hints. 😀

Yes you can bring the flat iron. The Taku Lodge Flightseeing tour in Juneau was probably one of the best we have had. http://takulodge.com/

Not sure about bears and waterfalls. Maybe on some tours in Skagway and Juneau.
timetravler Posted May 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2014 Your more likely to see bears in August, but hey you never know. I saw some in June in the College fjords but they were far away. Bring binoculars. However we did see many bald eagles, a moose on the way to Steward( before the cruise), goats and lots of salmon. You will see many glaciers in Glacier Bay if you go there. Bring a hat and gloves for this as it gets cold in Glacier Bay. Saw waterfalls a plenty in Ketchikan on a Princess tour which included many jelly fish too. It was a boat tour but do not remember the name of the tour. Something like jet boat tour.
Cruisin' Chick Posted May 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2014 We saw bears cavorting on a "beach" and many waterfalls during our glacier cruising (Tracey Arm Strait) on our cruise in August 2004.
