whoah Posted May 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 14, 2014 It’s been about 8 years since we sailed with Princess since we have a little one so I am behind on the changes. We are looking into sailing on Royal Princess next year. I know that there are sit down restaurants that charge a fee but I’m trying to figure out what other places charge and what is included. Are there any items in the Piazza area that are included or is there a charge for everything? Also, the adults only pool area…is there still a fee for this area? Loonbeam Posted May 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2014 Yay, finally get to use the new FAQ entry: What is NOT included on a Princess Cruise It seems that people are always confused as to what is included and not included. We’ve seen people refuse to eat in the main dining rooms, thinking there was a charge and people yelling at the folks in the international cafe when asked to pay for a coffee… The following list is not meant to be exhaustive, but should cover most items. I did not list actual prices as these can change without notice.. Food and Beverage: Specialty Dining Venues – Crowne Grille, Bayou Cafe, Sabatinis, Sterling Steakhouse (different venues on different ships) Casual Dining Specialty Venues – Crab Shack, Fondue, Ocean Terrace seafood Alcoholic beverages Specialty and brewed coffees (a coffee card is available) Mocktails Sodas Milkshakes Tapas at Vines cafe (may be included with some wine purchases) Special Dining Events – Chef’s Table, Winemaker’s Dinner, Ultimate Balcony Dining Room Service – All complimentary EXCEPT whole pizza delivery which has a small service charge. Gelato at the International Cafe Minibar items Bottled water Events and Tours: Ultimate Ships Tour Bingo Art Auctions Bon Voyage Experience Onboard Venues: Spa Services Thermal Suite/Enclave Sanctuary (adults only private area) Casino Beauty Salon Some fitness training Shopping Photo Gallery Photo Private Sittings Art Gallery Shore Excursions Clothing Related: Laundry service Self Service Laundry machines Tuxedo Rental
whoah Posted May 14, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted May 14, 2014 So glad that they no longer charge for using the adults area....they last time I sailed with Princess, they charged per half day for entering the adults only area.

You are confusing the adults only pool area with the sanctuary. There is a charge for the sanctuary by the half day and full day. On the Royal the retreat pool is near the sanctuary, but is not part of the sanctuary. The Retreat Pool and surrounding lounging area is free and for adults. Princess grand class ships, Grand, Star, Golden, Diamond, Sapphire, Caribbean, Crown, Ruby, Emerald, each have two adults only pools, the Terrace Pool and the Lotus Pool. These are no charge. How much is the Sanctuary on Regal/Royal might treat myself as it's my Birthday when onboard. Is there a pool in there or just posh loungers? Pam in CA Posted May 14, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2014 How much is the Sanctuary on Regal/Royal might treat myself as it's my Birthday when onboard. Is there a pool in there or just posh loungers?$20/half day, $40/day/pp. No pool in the Sanctuary but the Retreat pool and hot tubs are literally right at the entrance. The loungers are super comfortable and it's nice to have attendants to see to your comfort and bring you iced towels if it's hot, blankets if it's cold, drinks (you pay the normal charge) and food (a $3 delivery charge.) cruiseloverohio Posted May 14, 2014 #13 Share Posted May 14, 2014 We are considering traveling on Princess, Crown Princess for the first time. We've cruised a lot before on other lines, but not on Princess! I've enjoyed reading all the information. I'm wondering if Princess allows you to bring water, soda or wine onboard? Thanks to whomever can reply!
Cruisin' Chick Posted May 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted May 14, 2014 We are considering traveling on Princess, Crown Princess for the first time. We've cruised a lot before on other lines, but not on Princess! I've enjoyed reading all the information. I'm wondering if Princess allows you to bring water, soda or wine onboard? Thanks to whomever can reply! You can bring on water, soda and wine on board. There is a limit to how much wine you can take without getting a corkage charge. We took only a small box o'wine (under the limit for the two of us) so I can't speak to the procedure. We put these items in a plastic crate, tape a luggage tag on it, and hubby gives to a porter with some cash. We've found it usually will fit under one of the beds; if not, there's space in the closet. I would suggest looking up the dining guide on the Princess website that is linked to in someone's post. Then you can see which venues are on your ship (some like the Horizon are on every ship, I believe, but the International Cafe isn't -- and the gelato listed isn't available at every IC). It definitely is possible to never pay extra to eat on a Princess ship without feeling you're missing out.
skynight Posted May 15, 2014 #15 Share Posted May 15, 2014 I'm wondering if Princess allows you to bring water, soda or wine onboard? Thanks to whomever can reply! Bring as much soda, water, soft drinks as you wish. However, the on board tap water is just as good as bottled water. You can save yourself a lot of effort by just bringing a water bottle. There will be ice in your cabin fridge. Every cabin has a fridge. Each passenger over 21 is allowed to carry on one 750ml bottle of wine at no charge for use in their cabin. Additional bottles are charged a $15/bot corkage fee. These bottles will be marked and can be used anywhere on the ship. No beer or spirits. wallycat16 Posted May 15, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 15, 2014 I am confused. Is the sanctuary adults only? If I pay can I take my 17 year old daughter in there? Thanks Sent from my iPad using Forums
Loonbeam Posted May 15, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 15, 2014 Yes, it is adult only, and no she cannot join you normally (if she looks old enough the crew may not actually ask her age, but it is 18 and up). You would also need to pay for a spot for her. I am confused. Is the sanctuary adults only? If I pay can I take my 17 year old daughter in there? Fizzypeach Posted August 24, 2014 #18 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Can any one tell me if you can use the coffee card to get cappuccino as part of room service and can you use it in the Sanctuary? Many thanks
caribill Posted August 24, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Can any one tell me if you can use the coffee card to get cappuccino as part of room service? Room service does not serve the specialty coffees, so no.
