I have searched this board and am having a terrible time getting info to get to hobby from hotel on seawall blvd. I would so appreciate any information re shuttles, taxi, etc and an idea of costs. We are doing repo cruise on carnival freedom in feb. and I know absolutely nothing about texas. I really tried the search feature and some answers were over a year old. Thanks!!!

Hey fellow Buckeye-

I cannot give you a recommendation as I have not used any of these, but here are a few places you can check out.

I also did quite a bit of research for family members and determined that the cheapest way was to book Houston Yellow Cabs : https://houstonyellowcab.com/taxiservices-city.aspx?city=Galveston+Cruise+Terminal

As it turned out, we picked up our family from Va. at Hobby and took them to our hotel on Seawall Blvd. Once we were on the ship, they booked transfers back to Hobby from RCI at $32 per person. They departed the ship at 8:30 am. Since they hadn't booked a return in advance, we weren't sure if reservations for a cab were required or not. I wouldn't think so but they played it safe. Years ago friends used Galveston Limos and were pleased. I'd suggest calling Carnival and asking them about a return transfer, calling Houston Yellow Cab and also Galveston Limo. Let us know if we can be of further help. Enjoy your cruise!

Thank you so much for the information!!! We are planning on staying in Galveston 2 or 3 days after the cruise since we have never been there before. I'll check yellow cab - am a little worried because evidently we are in town during "Mardi Gras" which I didn't know Galveston had. We are heading home on 'Fat Tuesday' so I hope it doesn't become a problem. Again, thank you for the information!!!

Howdy SIENA6334 and may I be the first to welcome you to Texas and Galveston Island! emo22.gif

For information about Galveston's Mardi Gras, click here http://www.mardigrasgalveston.com/ for last year's Mardi Gras website. Click General Information then History in the drop down menu for information about Mardi Gras being observed as early as 1867.

I am currently on Navigator of the Seas out of Galveston and we used Cool Tours for our transportation and I highly recommend them. We booked them from Hobby Airport to our hotel in the NASA/Clear Lake area and then again from the hotel to Port Galveston on cruise morning. They were on time, professional, and even took us the scenic route of Galveston sharing facts and history of the island. Would definitely use them again.

Cruising out of Galveston has been a wonderful experience. The people are so friendly and helpful. Wish I would have had 3 days to spend here. Hope you have a GREAT cruise!
